Dear Colleagues,

The GrantProse vision is to provide high quality, personalized services and resources that are reasonably priced and widely accessible. Toward this end, we provide this newsletter free and hope you will forward it to your colleagues.

We continue to add new features to our website to better serve the grants community. Our Grant Alerts are now in downloadable .pdf format, refreshed twice a month with new funding opportunities. We also recognize a growing number of GrantProse clients who have received grant awards.

As always, thank you for your appreciation of our work.

In the Spotlight
GrantProse president Dr. Bill Carruthers travels to western North Carolina on 9/20 to speak to the Western Region Education Service Alliance about writing successful grant proposals. WRESA, located in Asheville, works to improve the educational and instructional experiences of students and staff in schools across 19 mountain counties, focusing on research-based and technical innovations. WRESA has established a grant collaborative, which meets three times annually and invites grant funders and experienced grant writers to serve as guest presenters. Contact Bob Byrd, School Improvement Coordinator for WRESA, or Lori Brown, Grant Writer for Buncombe County Schools, if you have questions about WRESA or would like to serve as a guest presenter. Kudos to Lori for creating and maintaining a grants resource website for Buncombe County Schools that offers a wealth of resources on grants and grant writing.

Do you use Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn? If so, you have three ways to connect and share grant-related information with members of the Grants Information Network of North Carolina (GIN-NC). To find and join GIN-NC on Facebook click here. To follow GIN-NC on Twitter, click this link. And to join the GIN LinkedIn group, follow this link. Spread the word and let your colleagues know how they can connect and network with GIN. If you're not yet familiar with social networking sites, or have information to share, email GIN with questions or comments.
Program Research and Evaluation
In our next newsletter, we introduce a feature on program evaluation, contributed by Compass Evaluation & Research, Inc. A woman-owned and -operated firm, Compass offers an array of program evaluation and research services that inform decision-making and strategies; identify opportunities for change and improvement; and measure outcomes, effectiveness and impacts. Compass' expertise extends to several areas, including education; professional development; health, community and safety; and evaluation capacity building.

Durham-based Compass may be reached at 919-544-9004 or info@compasseval.com. We look forward to having Compass staff begin to demystify program evaluation in our next issue.
