GrantProse, Inc., Newsletter
November 18, 2009 Vol. 2, No. 21 Newsletter Editor: Rita Lewis
North Carolina's leading newsletter for information on grants.

Dear Colleagues,
The GrantProse vision is to provide high quality, personalized services and resources that are reasonably priced and widely accessible. Toward this end, we provide this newsletter free and hope you will forward it to your colleagues.
We continue to add
features to our website to better serve
the grants community.
Our Grant Alerts are now divided into two
parts: opportunities with fixed deadlines, and a new webpage--Foundations--where we list
foundations and other agencies that conduct their grant programs on an
ongoing basis, making awards throughout the year.
If you have news or a point
of view you'd like to share, please email Rita Lewis, newsletter editor--we're always
interested in items that
might benefit our audience.
As always, thank you for your appreciation of our work.

Tips & Resources
|
Finding the Money When searching for appropriate funding, many organizations
rely on subscription databases. A favorite vehicle for some is GrantStation, a grants
information organization with searchable databases of U.S., international,
federal and state funding. Subscribers can search U.S. charitable giving by
name of funding agency or by the parameters of the advanced search: geographic
scope, areas of interest and type of support. Separate sections are devoted to
search tips and search terms, where users can look for "playgrounds," for
example, and identify "Parks & Recreation" as the appropriate interest
area.
Listings for federal grants and loans are arranged by
deadline and are searchable by keywords. State
opportunities are arranged by state, with hyperlinks to current funding
programs listed under state agencies and departments.
Database listings for U.S. charitable giving include
foundations, corporations, corporate foundations, religious organizations and
associations. Listings give application procedures and deadlines, geographic
areas, interest focus areas, grant ranges and eligibility details.
On online tour of the website covers the databases and other features: weekly
grant and loan opportunities; information on such topics as fundraising,
grants management and grant writing; and webinars on various grant-related
topics. Electronic tools for members include a customizable grantseeking
calendar, documentation tips for keeping track of in-kind contributions and
tips on creating time to write proposals. Members also receive e-newsletters
and have access to archived how-to articles and an RSS feed.
