Invocation
Almighty, Lord, grant to me the ears to hear Your invitation to enter into eternal rest. Give me the boldness to be Your voice to my neighbor. Amen.
Reading Luke 12:35-48; Psalm 148
Reflection
We have an alarm system in our house. Chances are you do as well. What I like about it is it indicates when someone uses the door. If someone is entering, I am told. If someone is leaving, I am notified. Still, there isn't much warning at all. When she, the alarm voice, speaks, the deed is done.
When my wife is gone, soon to return, I listen for the alarm. I'm delighted to know when she is home. If she is coming back from the grocery store, I will jump up from the chair (yes, jump up I said) to help (serve) carry groceries into the house.
Jesus said that we are to be ready for His return and to be found in service -- not just listening, but dressed and ready to jump up from the chair at the first indication of the call.
That gets me to thinking. Who is actually listening, prepared, and eager for Jesus to return? Are you? Are your neighbors?
This return could be one where there is great fear, where hope is lost, and perdition is confirmed. It may also be the last moment in time when the Savior's voice will be forever heard saying, "Come and Rest."
Rev. Steven Misch, Area A MMF
Pray (As you pray include . . . people who don't know Christ; people who will plant & witness; include people who pray. In addition, pray that the land be quenched with rain and that opportunities to bring God's love to individuals and communities impacted by the wildfires not be missed by God's servants.)
Benediction
Go, knowing that He who calls, leads and that He who leads, provides. Amen.

Pray that the members of the Texas District embrace the mission.
Lord, As fears grow concerning local, state, and world events, make Your presence known, through Your church and through Your people in such a way that Your hand of grace would be seen calming hearts and minds ultimately drawing all people to Yourself. Amen.
