Invocation

O Father, settle my heart and mind this day as I prepare once more to sit at Your feet in the Word and in prayer.  Grant to me ears to listen to You, eyes to see You, hands to serve people in the name of Him who is, was, and is to come; Jesus.  Amen.

Reading   Luke 9:1-11Psalm 117

Reflection

From this text we read that Jesus sent out the disciples with the backing of His almighty power.  They were sent on a mission...to share the Good News of Jesus Christ so that the lost would be saved!  Word spread about these men of God!  Word even reached Herod who was baffled by the message he was receiving.  His words today might be, "WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?"

We have such "PEOPLE" in our Texas District!  God has blessed us with missionaries that represent over 15 different culture groups.  They might not be driving out demons or curing diseases, but their stories of faith and conversions are just as miraculous.  When you meet these missionaries and hear their stories, you are tempted to ask, like King Herod, "WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?"

God is working His miraculous power through these missionaries, but He is also working His power through our Texas District congregations.  More and more churches are looking outside their "walls" and seeing souls who do not know Jesus.  It is obvious, and others are recognizing a mission movement that can only be described as miraculous.

May God continue to move through each of us and through our congregations, so that others will also ask, "WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?"

Pray  (As you pray include . . . people who don't know Christ; people who will plant & witness; include people who pray.   In addition, pray that the land be quenched with rain and that opportunities to bring God's love to individuals and communities impacted by the wildfires not be missed by God's servants.)

Benediction

By His grace and mercy, you have been in His resting presence today.  AMEN .

Pray that the members of the Texas District embrace the mission.

Lord, As fears grow concerning local, state, and world events, make Your presence known, through Your church and through Your people in such a way that Your hand of grace would be seen calming hearts and minds ultimately drawing all people to Yourself.  Amen.
