Invocation
Gracious heavenly Father, open our eyes so that we may see you at work in our lives. Fill us with urgency to hand down to others the hope and life you give us. Amen.
Reading Luke 1:1-4; Psalm 22:22-31
Reflection
You've just come through one of the most intense gift-giving seasons of the entire world. Retailers attempt to estimate what was purchased, but who can count how much was given away over Christmas? Factor in the gift of the Savior, and the ability to estimate the value of this extravagant time of giveaway is impossible.
My question for you is: Why stop now?
Luke lets us know in the verses for today that handing down the message of life in Christ was the regular practice of eyewitnesses of Jesus and servants of the Word. There was no selfishness, no pause, no hesitance, and no second thoughts. It was giveaway time. If you see Jesus and if you serve Jesus, you do one thing. You hand the Good News over to others.
Will your church stay in the giveaway business? Will you? Will you organize your church and your life around letting go of everything that hinders the expansion of the Kingdom of God? Will you hand down the Good News of Jesus in creative, extravagant, risky, and persistent ways? Will you keep the giveaway going? --Rev Michael Newman, Area C MMF, Texas District Pray
Benediction Dear Lord of the Harvest, raise up giveaway oriented workers for your harvest field. Amen.

Don't be shy about inviting fellow disciples to be a partner in prayer!
