Get Involved!
I know you're probably all wondering how you can get more involved with CYP. Lucky for you we have two big events coming up that require quite a few volunteers!
WOW: Walking on Water
Bridge Walk & Canned Food Drive
3rd Annual Bridge Walk & Canned Food Drive will be held on Saturday, August 28 from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. Volunteers are needed to collect canned goods and distribute t-shirts to participants.
Biloxi Seafood Festival
CYP sponsors the "Kid Village" every year at the Biloxi Seafood Festival and this year's festival is on September 11 & 12. Several volunteers will be needed to oversee the different inflatables (bouncy houses, large slides, etc.). This event is alot of fun and you won't want to miss it!

After that, continue to learn from my mentors and field experience to be a better architect. Why did I join CYP? As a newbie to the coast, I thought it would be a great way to get involved and meet people. My most memorable event with CYP: Being involved in the Next Leaders Survey campaign. I enjoyed participating in something that I thought was important. The one activity I enjoy doing in my spare time is: When I have a free weekend, I enjoy going back to help my parents on our family's dairy farm. Favorite thing about the Mississippi Gulf Coast: The history of this area. I've learned a lot! Favorite Restaurant on the Coast: Le Bakery on Oak Street in Biloxi The Coast's Best Kept Secret: I think it's the people - those that work hard every day to make this a nice place to live and an interesting place to visit. Song you can't get out of your head: New Shoes by Paolo Nutini (was the intro to a movie I watched a few days ago) Best book you've read this year: To Kill a Mockingbird - the 50th Anniversary Edition Favorite Movie: Love Actually is my very favorite, but I only watch it during the month of December - at least 10 times. The best advice you have ever received: I guess that would be my Dad telling me EVERY time he sees me getting into my car, "Don't wreck." Right now I'm counting down the days until... I go to the Dave Matthews Band concert in Atlanta next week! One important or secret thing people should know about you? I've never traveled outside of the US, but would like to go to Switzerland one day. I do not play any musical instruments, but am dying to learn to play the fiddle! |

Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood. -Ralph Waldo Emerson
