Summer doesn't mean the family  involvement stops!

 

Tenant Rights (Tuesday, June 5): A presentation from an attorney at Legal Aid to answer your most common questions on leases, deposits, evictions and more. Open to anybody in the community. See flyer in English or Spanish.

 

Money School (Saturday, July 7): Feeling lost when it comes to money? This financial education program is for Tarrant County residents who want a better money life. At no cost to you, includes Financial Planning (a $600 value), Credit Counseling (up to a $1950 value) and Matching Savings (up to a $125 value). See flyer in English or Spanish.

 

Families First (Thursday, March 31): This parenting skills program is a great opportunity to get a refresher on your parenting skills. With a custom approach to each parent, this class helps you feel more confident in your parenting. This class offered in Spanish. Read more...

Marriage 101 classes available for marriage preparation and marriage enrichment. Classes are offered at First Christian Church on Sunday morning from 9:45am-10:40am beginning June 24. Various topics included. Read more...

UT Arlington Summer Camps are available. Fitness Adventures, Athletics, Band, Cheerleading, Music, Science and more are available. Overnight camps such as Bridge to Engineering are also offered for 9th and 10th grade students. Read more... 
 
Summer Day Camp available for high school students interested in health care. 2012 Camp Med is a two-week camp held at Tarrant County College for high school students and includes hands-on health care experiences. While the cost is $250 per camper, scholarships are available. Read more...

Community Events and Resources 

 

Mobile Food Pantry brings food assistance to East Arlington every month. Once a month, on the first Wednesday of the month, the Tarrant Area Food Bank, in collaboration with Arlington Urban Ministries, has a Mobile Food Pantry parked at Aldersgate UMC, 2201 E Park Row, Arlington, 76010. Food includes basic food pantry items, as well as fresh vegetables and meat. Normal distribution time is between 10am-12pm, and several pounds of food are distributed. No appointment is needed. Individuals are advised to bring a suitcase or bag to carry food. For more information, email a_u_m@sbcglobal.net or call 817-861-8585.

 

Money available to prevent eviction and homelessness. Program may pay rent or utilities up to three months to landlord or utility company, or assit with security deposit. Must live in Arlington and have eligible income. Read more...

Housing for Texas Heroes is a program through MHMR of Tarrant County is offering rental or mortgage assistance up to 100% of monthly payment for up to 6 months; payment for Section 8 housing; and catch-up payments for past due rent/mortgage to prevent eviction. Call 817-569-4660 for an appointment. During the 2010-2011 school year, 2,720 Arlington ISD youth were homeless and 491 Arlington ISD youth were pregnant and parenting boys and girls served in the district's Pregnancy, Education and Parenting Program.
