The American Heart Association invites you to Vestido Rojo on March 31, 2012 from 8am-1:30pm at Tarrant County College Trinity River Campus. This event is designed to promote good health and prevention of cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, and obesity that endanger Hispanic/Latino and other women. 
 
Open Arms is a new FREE Health Clinic in Arlington located at 3921 W. Green Oaks Blvd., Suite D. Walk-ins welcome. Includes well-checks, chronic disease management, non-emergency problems. Must be uninsured or underinsured, or below 200% of the federal poverty level. Hours: Tuesdays 7pm-9pm and Fridays 10am-4pm. Read more...
 
The CHIPmedicaid.org website reflects new co-payments for CHIP and revised income limits for both CHIP and Children's Medicaid. The website can be used to manage CHIP medical and dental plans, search for CHIP doctors and dentists in the area, and update your contact informatoin. An online application is also available to apply for CHIP/Children's Medicaid and to renew CHIP coverage.

As part of the Champion Education Initiative, the Arlington Chamber Foundation has a $2,500 scholarship available to one 2011-2012 graduating AISD student who plans to attend either UTA or TCC. Click here to download the application. Deadline is February 29.

Child Abuse and Neglect cost the United States $124 billion. A single child abuse death costs about $1.3 million, while the average cost per victim of nonfatal abuse/neglect is $120,012. Read more...

In 2011, 5,888 children were abused and neglected in Tarrant County. Although this number actually decreased from 2010, Tarrant County still has the second highest number of abused and neglected children in the entire State of Texas. Read more...
