$3.2 Million Added to Wichita Street Campus Project

Wichita Street CampusIn June, ACH closed a New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) deal that will generate $3.2 million in revenue for the renovation of the Wichita Street Campus. The NMTC Program permits taxpayers to receive a credit against Federal income taxes for making qualified equity investments in designated Community Development Entities (CDE). Substantially all of the qualified equity investment must be used in turn by the CDE to provide investments in low-income communities. In ACH's case, the Wichita Street Campus Project qualified as just such an investment. Leveraging other sources of income, including philanthropic, ACH partnered with Bank of America to complete this deal.

"We are grateful to Bank of America for bringing this unconventional project funding source to us. This revenue, coupled with philanthropic support from the community, will ensure the successful completion of the Wichita Street Campus Project, and position ACH to serve hundreds of additional children and families," stated Dr. Wayne Carson, CEO of ACH Child and Family Services.

Getting Married has its Benefits

BelltowerACH's first social business venture, Belltower Chapel & Garden, a for profit wedding and reception venue operated by ACH, is designed to benefit the mission of ACH in several ways. Profits from Belltower will fund ACH's programs that protect children and preserve families. But, this business is about much more than profit. Belltower also employs youth served by ACH, providing critical work skills development and real world work experience for youth in care.

Since opening its doors for business in late 2009, Belltower is exceeding its sales and financial targets. Learn more about Belltower's first six months of operations...
