We Have Moved!
|
While most of you may be aware of this, we found that a few of our clients remain unaware that during the last week of October we moved. Our studio is now located in our new home at 633 Valleyview Drive Endwell, NY 13760 This move has allowed us the opportunity to expand our physical space to approximately 1,000 sq foot of dedicated space which will not only allow us to further increase our efficiency today, but also allow us the ability to effectively manage our continued growth and additional service offerings. We are currently operating out of a temporary location while we are wrapping up the design and drawings. We anticipate construction to begin in the next few weeks and hope to have our new space up and fully functional by our anniversary in early February We invite all to visit and see our new space. Directions are as follows: Main Street in Endwell to Hooper Road. Continue Traveling north on Hooper Road. After you pass M&T bank on your right, take your next right turn on to Pheasant Drive. Go to the very top of the hill. Our studio is on the corner of Pheasant Drive and Valleyview Drive. |

Adobe Flash
|
If you are following the tech news, a recent, significant announcement was made by Adobe, regarding the discontinuation of Adobe Flash. Adobe Flash has long been the gold standard for developing web content rich in animation, audio, and special effects. It has been the choice for many artists, performers, and production companies in the entertainment industry as well as developers serving clients requiring this specialized platform. While Flash has had some incredible capabilities, since day one it has had significant issues. In addition to being complex and often expensive to develop individuals wishing to use flash have been required to download flash players. The Flash Player has very rarely been included with new computers. Flash has also had significant compatibility issues with Apple products as well as other mobile devices. Over the past few years these compatibility issues have been brought to the general public's attention by statements from both Apple and Adobe regarding the inability for Flash to be viewed on Apple's iPad devices.
Many non-technical folks are saying this change in Adobe's posture is due to the passing of long time rival Steve Jobs. The official statement from Adobe is that HTML5 (The new standard for web design) now offers the designer similar capabilities to Flash. HTML5 is not only cross platform and mobile device friendly but does not require any special plug in and it degrades gracefully with older browsers or operating systems not compatible with HTML5. So what does this mean to you? First... if you have been considering a Flash Site... understand not only are the many limitations and obstacles still present, but now its time is limited. We do not anticipate it will be going away soon... but new browsers and technology will probably not consider support and new plug in players will no longer be developed. Second... if you have video on your site, if it's Flash, we should think about converting it to another format and/or replacing it by embedding YouTube Streams for many reasons. Lastly, HTML5 is already here. Although many features are still not supported across the board... things like rounded corners and animation are already starting to emerge. If you are looking to significantly update your site, we recommend considering a new site to the latest HTML5 standards. |

Electronic Billing Update
| |
Last month was our first month of utilizing our electronic billing system for our entire client base. The pilot was extremely successful and we are happy to report success with the full rollout.
Please remember payment is due on receipt. We've been working hard to accommodate our clients and understanding to the recent impacts of the September Flooding, our October Change of Address, and November Electronic Billing.
Please note that while we have opted not to enforce our late payment fee scale during the past quarter, beginning with our December 1, 2011 billing cycle, we will be returning to our normal practice.
Again, please note our new address is 633 Valleyview Drive, Endwell, NY 13760

Contract Renewals
| |
It's that time of the year when contract renewals are being sent out. While many of our client's contracts are good through 2012 & 2013, several expire this month.
Watch your email for your renewal and please return it as soon as possible to avoid any lapse in your service.
We are happy to announce that we are continuing our existing rates through 12/31/11.

New tablets and the confusion they are creating.
| |
If you watch the evening news, you've probably seen the advertisements for the new tablets/readers from Kindle and the new Nook by Barnes & Noble.
It is no surprise they released these just prior to the Holidays and at a significant savings over the current iPads which continue to dominate the tablet market.
We've fielded several calls from clients looking to take advantage of this continually emerging technology as well as others looking for gifts for that someone special.
We thought we would take just a couple of minutes to talk about four specific points you should look at when buying a tablet.
- Not all tablets are created equal. Know what you are going to do with one and understand what the one you are looking at can do. Not all have the ability to synch files to computers, connect to external AV sources/monitors/etc.
- Not all tablets run on the same operating system. If you are looking for a specific feature, the ability to run a specific application or perform a task, make sure the application is available on the platform you are choosing.
- Not all tablets can run applications. Some are great readers, some can surf the internet, some can run apps too. Again, know what you want to to and make sure it can do what you want.
- We believe that like most things in life, you get what you pay for. Sure, an iPad 2 loaded with memory and apps can run three, four or five times that of a kindle, but it has many more options, accessories, apps, a fast processor, and uses proven technology.
It's no secret we are a PC company. While we have a token MAC, 99.9% of our work is generated on a custom designed and built Dell. Only six months ago we entered the table world with an iPad2. That's exactly what we would buy again today, but if we were looking for a reader that can surf the web and pick up email... The Nook and Kindle tablets are pretty cool and hard to resist.

New Video Cameras
| |
Did you check out our show reel above... notice anything different from some of the traditional footage you've seen from most video companies and from Grey Goose Graphics? Until now, we've worked with high definition DSLR cameras exclusively. In September to meet the needs of a specific shoot we expanded our technology to include new cameras which have a the same quality output, but the ability to be placed where you would not dare to go.
These cameras are compact, durable (can take speeds up to 175 miles per hour), and waterproof to 250'. We've had them inside a fire hydrant, under a boat, on top of a car, on construction equipment, a snow plow, attached to an under carriage of a motor cycle, a garage door, a kayak paddle and more... If you can think of an angle... we are working to make it happen.
Do you have an idea for a great video?
Give us a call or contact us to set up a time to meet.

Snippets
|
- Verizon has changed their data plans. If you are changing phones and are considering changing your smart phone plan, make sure you do not lose the unlimited data plan you probably have now.
- The analysts say computer sales may hit an all time low this season. Shortages in chips and components as a result of the constant weather disturbances in Asia have supply down. With demand constant it's going to be hard to find a good deal on computers. If you find a good deal now... grab it... it may not get better as the season progresses.
- If an LCD projector is in your future... make sure it has an HDMI port. With iPad and several other tablets going away from traditional serial, VGA, and USB ports, HDMI is becoming the new standard in video output/input.
