Black Slippers
Russian Pointe is pleased to announce an exciting upgrade to the black Andante and Nouveau ballet slippers. I recently took a trip to Hong Kong where I had the opportunity to personally oversee the production of the new line of educational children's books and toys for my new company, Growing Through Arts!™ I first developed the idea for these books while I was a student at Harvard Business School, and it's so gratifying to see this vision coming to life. I can't wait for the books and toys to go on sale in June! I hope they will inspire in children a lifelong love of learning and the arts.

Growing Through Arts™, the newest venture from Aleksandra Efimova, is a company that produces educational books and toys for children. It is always so thrilling to attend the Youth America Grand Prix, the world's largest student ballet scholarship competition. One of the highlights this year was meeting Jonathan "Legacy" Perez, a finalist from Season 6 of "So You Think You Can Dance.The performances are always outstanding, and I am proud that Russian Pointe was able to sponsor this year's competition.  Welcome, Casey Whitaker!
Casey Whitaker is Russian Pointe's new customer service representative. A stand-up comedian, actress, singer and choreographer from Beavercreek, OH, Casey moved to Chicago after graduating from University of Kentucky with a double major in Theatre Performance and Arts Administration. She studied ballet, jazz, and tap, and participated in dance teams in middle school and high school and performed in a large number of theater productions in college. Casey is excited to be part of the Russian Pointe team!

Spotlight Interview: Makensie Howe

Makensie Howe, 17, is going places. She recently made it to the final round at the Youth American Grand Prix for her performance of the third act pas de deux from La Fille Mal Gardée, and she has already been accepted into Houston Ballet II for the 2011-2012 season. A student at Alexsandra Ballet in Chesterfield, MO, for the past five years, Howe has also been a loyal Russian Pointe customer for the last four.

Russian Culture Now Announces
Scholarship Winners
Russian Culture Now, a new non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the best of Russian Culture in the United States, has announced the winners of its 2011 Scholarship Awards! Russian Culture Now is donating $5,000 in scholarships to a total of 10 middle school and high school students who are passionate about the arts and two college and graduate students who study Russian culture. Simply Miles
Russian Pointe General Manager Debbie Chanel and Graphic Designer Elizaveta Efimova attended River North Dance Chicago's sneak peak performance of Simply Miles, Simply Us,
set to the music of Miles Davis, which will be performed at the Auditorium Theatre on April 16. "Every time I see River North perform, they do something new!" Elizaveta Efimova raved. "The Simply Miles sneak peak was jazzy and fresh... These dancers are astounding athletes."
