Russian Pointe on the Road
Ali Aguilar and Juneanne Hardy introduced Russian Pointe's newest shoe, the Muse, from the Spotlight Collection at the Southwest Dance Retailer Show in Grapevine, TX, on Jan. 23 and 24, and Hardy hosted an interactive pointe shoe fitting seminar. Aguilar said the Muse was popular with retailers. "We were pleased to see how it was received. It seems to be the shoe that everyone has been waiting for!" Aguilar said.
 Aguilar also traveled to Louisville, KY, for a two-day Trunk Show at Kinney Dancewear on Jan. 14 and 15. Owner Jeff (photographed with Ali) and manager Jena held a lovely evening cocktail reception for local teachers. The special event was both educational and personal. The weekend of fittings left dozens of young dancers happy and beaming for their upcoming dance classes.
 On Jan. 22, Ali traveled to North Olmsted, OH, for a Trunk Show at Footsteps Dancewear, owned by Barbara Darkogh (photographer with Ali). About 20 dancers and a teachers had Russian Pointe fittings and received special treats.

Pointe of Departure
 Russian Pointe has donated over 250 pointe shoes to Joffrey Ballet Auxiliary Board's Pointe of Departure art exhibition. The shoes will be the inspiration for -- or a physical part of -- original works created by a variety of artists. Artworks will be available for sale at the exhibition on February 10, with proceeds benefiting The Joffrey Ballet.

Inspiring Young Entrepreneurs
On Jan. 25, Aleksandra met with 25 high school students from St. Louis who were on a two-day trip to meet with business leaders in Chicago to learn about business, marketing and entrepreneurship. The students were treated to a tour of Russian Pointe's offices and warehouse. " They were so curious and had so many questions!" Aleksandra said. River North Dance Company Tango Sneak Peak  Elizaveta Efimova attended a special sneak peak performance of the world premiere of "Al Sur del Sur," an Argentine tango-inspired piece from Chicago's River North Dance Company. The intimate event was held at The Standard Club -- a private club in Chicago. The piece will be premiered during the company's Valentine's Day weekend shows Feb. 11- 13. "Be prepared to see the dancers in a new light! Their tango moves are as acrobatic as they are sultry," Elizaveta said. |
