Russian Pointe Dance Boutique held a first-ever special ballroom sale day on December 3-4, with discounts of 20-80%. "Customers were thrilled!" says Tiffany Lawson. "They were excited to see markdowns on luxurious ballroom wear, and the shoes were an especially big hit." The day, which also included holiday-themed treats for shoppers, was such a success that the Boutique is considering making it an annual event. |

Nutcracker Experience with Aleksandra (on Sunday, December 12) was a marvelous success! Winners of the essay and artwork contest traveled from as far away as Vermont and Kansas to enjoy the day of arts and luxury with Aleksandra, which included pointe decorating, luncheon, a tour of Russian Pointe and a limousine ride to The Joffrey Ballet's Nutcracker. Click the image to read all about the day, view a photo gallery and revisit the wonderful writing and artwork we received from these young dancers. |

Russian Pointe on the Road
Ali Aguilar traveled to Brandon, FL for a two-day Trunk Show at The Dancer's Closet on December 4-5. Owner Cat Arias-Johnson (pictured with Ali) held the event on the kickoff weekend for her holiday sale, and the store was decorated in holiday style. Ali spent a lot of one-on-one time with both Cat and the dancers, parents and teachers who attended fittings. Each first-time pointe buyer received a mesh bag as a gift (and encouragement to develop good pointe shoe care habits!). |

Pointe of Departure
Russian Pointe has donated over 250 pointe shoes to Joffrey Ballet Auxiliary Board's Pointe of Departure art exhibition. The shoes will be the inspiration for - or a physical part of - original works created by a variety of artists. Artworks will be available for sale at the exhibition on February 10, with proceeds benefiting The Joffrey Ballet.

Facepainting at Nutcracker Family Dinner
Russian Pointe returned to Joffrey's Nutcracker Family Dinner this year, to offer facepainting to the children in attendance, on December 11 at the Palmer House Hilton grand ballroom. Elizaveta Efimova and Sasha Danilishen offered a choice of six Nutcracker characters, and Elizaveta was pleased to see children she recognized from last year's event (and even remembered the designs some had chosen). She also notes that her "clientele" included some adults as well as children! Other activities included tiara, snowman, snowflake and cookie decorating, Lego building, photo opportunities and more. Costumed dancers circulated among guests, in a ballroom transformed into the Land of Snow, with sparkling white birch trees and magical lighting. The event is an important fundraiser and awareness-builder for Joffrey and is held between the day's matinee and evening Nutcracker performances, with trolley bus transportation available to Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University for the performance. |

The Academy of Dance Nutcracker performance
Elizaveta attended The Academy of Dance's The Nutcracker Suite with her daughter Klava (pictured), on December 18. The Academy is the official school of The Joffrey Ballet. Choreographed by artistic co-director Alexei Kremnev, the performance featured dancers from the Academy's Pre-Professional and Trainee programs. This first annual presentation was an awareness builder for the Academy's programs, says Elizaveta. "It was truly lovely," she adds. "The performance was exciting and the dancers were amazing, especially the Sugar Plum Fairy - a true star!"
