River North Gala
Aleksandra and Elizaveta Efimova attended River North Chicago Dance Company's annual gala on November 11. The evening began with a performance at Harris Theater, followed by a party at the Fairmont Hotel, with a silent auction (for which Russian Pointe donated a gift card), dinner and dancing. "It was especially fun to see the dancers from the company dancing at party - they were full of excitement and energy!" Aleksandra says.

Swan Lake
State Ballet Theatre of Russia
Russian Pointe has donated two $50 Boutique gift certificates to Auditorium Theatre's group sales program for the State Ballet Theatre of Russia's presentation of Swan Lake on February 4-5, 2011. Groups of 10+ qualify for a 10% discount, and those that book before January 3 will be entered into a drawing for the Russian Pointe gift certificates. Moscow Virtuosi Reception
Aleksandra Efimova organized a hugely successful pre-performance reception for the Moscow Virtuosi on November 12 at Chicago's Symphony Center. Conductor Vladimir Spivakov spoke to the approximately 150 guests about the evening's program and the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation. The reception was held in Symphony Center's elegant ninth-floor Club, with a magnificent view of Millennium Park, and the concert that followed included solos by Maestro Spivakov and pianist Alexander Ghindin. |

Welcome from Aleksandra
This image is one of my favorites from our most recent photo shoot. I love the energy of the children, and how they are so comfortable just being themselves. As teens and adults, we learn to be more self-conscious, especially if we are in dance class wearing just a leotard and tights! This is certainly an example of how much we can learn from children. I received so many wonderful responses to my contest "Nutcracker Experience with Aleksandra." The young people who submitted essays and drawings showed so eloquently what dance means to them, and what it can mean to all of us. I'm eagerly looking forward to my day with the winners, when I will have the privilege of treating them to lunch, a limo ride and a performance of Joffrey's gorgeous Nutcracker. It will be a perfect start to the holiday season. Wishing you holidays filled with happiness and wonder, and an exciting, satisfying New Year, from all of us here at Russian Pointe. Russian Pointe on the Road
 Along with owner Kat Barlow, fitting specialist Juneanne Hardy was interviewed by the local newspaper when she gave a Trunk Show Seminar at Dance & More Store (at right) in Fayetteville, AR on November 20. Juneanne's visit to Dance & More included a seminar for dancers, teachers and parents, as well as a full day of fittings, and Juneanne brought samples of Encore for dancers to try. Ali Aguilar presented a Trunk Show in Cary, NC on November 13, at Relevé Dancewear (below), a new Authorized Retailer. Owner Katherine Herring made the day extra-special with discounts, goody bags and drawings (grand prize: a pair of Russian Pointes!). Ali enjoyed both the day of fittings with dancers and training sessions with staff members. |

Farewell to Dustin
Dustin Crumbaugh will leave Chicago in early 2011 to join a brand-new jazz and contemporary company, St. Louis Dance Theatre. He was invited to join the company's premiere season by artistic director Paula Young David (a former Hubbard Street dancer). While Dustin will miss his wonderful customers at Russian Pointe, he is excited about dancing full-time again, and about the company, which he calls "fun, energetic and well-rounded." Our congratulations and best wishes go to Dustin!  |
