Trunk Show at Dancer's Choice
Dancer's Choice shoes
Boutique manager Ali Aguilar enjoyed  "one-on-one time" with dancers at an April 30 Trunk Show Seminar at Dancer's Choice in Los Angeles (Grace Lee, owner). Dancers traveled up to two hours to attend, and fittings ran from 9 to 5.30. Ali notes that most of the dancers already wore Russian Pointe. "I was able to check their fits, answer questions and offer a chance to try our new models, Lumina and Brava," Ali explains. (Personal fitting with a Russian Pointe specialist and trying new models are two of the important benefits of hosting or attending a Trunk Show!)
Trunk Show at Dance Fashions Superstore

Dustin Crumbaugh and Ali Aguilar presented a two-day Trunk Show Seminar at Dance Fashions Superstore in Atlanta, GA on April 24-25. Both days were booked solid with fittings, by both Dustin and Ali. "The owners (Nancy and Tolbert Yilmaz) went all out, making it a really special event," said Dustin. "They marketed with flyers and emails, and contacted studios personally. The catering was remarkable, as was the accommodation for the fittings."
Russian Pointe Newsletter
May 2010

Greetings from Aleksandra

Message from AleksandraWhen May arrives, we know it's really spring! Of course, yesterday in Chicago I was wearing gloves, and there were frost warnings in many northern states. But the promise of warmer weather is here.

March and April were very full months here at Russian Pointe. We were on the road for three trade shows and many Trunk Shows throughout the country. We enjoyed a quarterly retailers' Fitting Seminar in April, and several exciting dance performances, with promotional tickets for friends of Russian Pointe (and Boutique visits from some of the amazing dancers here on tour!).

It's also been a productive time for Russian Foundation of Chicago. We've been refining our goals and organizing exciting events and initiatives. On April 28 the Foundation co-hosted, with Chicago Sister Cities, a reception for a delegation of leaders from the Moscow Mayor's Office (see photo and link at the bottom of this column). Over 130 people attended the reception, held here at the Boutique.

It's recital season for many of us - dancers and teachers busy with final rehearsals, retailers making sure we have all those last-minute needs for your customers! Soon, we'll be getting ready for summer intensives, or preparing our stores for summer students' requirements.

Wishing you a wonderful, productive spring time, filled with new beginnings, eager anticipation, and the joy of dance.

ABT Dancers Visit Boutique
ABT at RPDB
The day after their April 14-18 engagement at Chicago's Civic Opera House, dancers of American Ballet Theatre made time for a visit to Russian Pointe Dance Boutique. "They were about to leave Chicago, heading back to New York for their Met season," reports Dustin Crumbaugh, who waited on the group. Dustin and other Boutique staff especially enjoyed showing corps dancer April Giangeruso this photo from the Russian Pointe collections, of her as a young dancer.
ABT - April

Dustin also had the opportunity to attend a performance of Swan Lake, along with Aleksandra, Elizaveta and Audrey ("A.J"). "The corps was so clean," he raved after the show. "It's a challenging ballet for the corps, with so many held poses. A lot of stillness is required, and that takes strength." He also greatly enjoyed principals Julia Kent and Marcello Gomez. "She was a remarkable Odette, with perfect port de bras, very lyrical. His jumps and turns were amazing, and he portrayed a joyous involvement in his dancing. His characterization was also excellent."
New Yumiko has arrived!

Trunk Show at En Arabesque

En ArabesqueJuneanne Nguyen traveled to En Arabesque in Perkasie, PA for a Teacher Seminar on April 30, followed by a Trunk Show Seminar for dancers on May 1. Teachers learned about the benefits of Russian Pointe while enjoying wine and delicious treats (as well as goody bags) provided by owner Kelli Widener. Many of the teachers - some of whom are also professional dancers - received personal fittings. On the following day, fittings were scheduled from 9:15 am to 7 pm. "The dancers and their parents were really great - very involved with the fittings and eager to learn more about Russian Pointe," reports Juneanne, who notes that Jewels and the new Spotlight Collection's Lumina and Brava were most popular. Kelli, also a professional dancer and teacher, received her own fitting. "She's a Brava girl!" Juneanne adds.
Seminars and Trunk Shows
Trunk Shows  10th anniv logo
Fitting Seminars are a unique opportunity for retailers to learn more about all 13 Russian Pointe models, and how model, size, width, vamp and shank work together for a perfect fit. You'll be learning directly from Russian Pointe specialists, and also have the rare chance to compare notes with your peers - other dance retailers! Our next seminar date will be finalized soon - keep an eye on the website. (Retailers only.)

And, don't forget that all Authorized Retailers are invited to host a Trunk Show Seminar and/or Teacher Seminar. Trunk Shows are fun, productive, and a marvelous way to increase your dancers', parents' and teachers' awareness of the benefits of Russian Pointe.
