Welcome from Aleksandra
"Harvard 2009 - Let's get started!" I thought, as the taxi slowly entered the campus, surrounded by golden-red foliage and the classic Bostonian architecture and contemporary sculptures of Harvard University. On the way from the airport I had reminisced about my last Harvard Business School session, while enjoying newly familiar sights like the wide, graceful Charles River dotted with shells carrying rowing crews practicing for the historic Head of the Charles regatta. Upon arrival, my little dorm room brought back memories, as did the classrooms, professors and classmates. But, familiar as it all was, I knew that this session would be different from the last. Encountering the recognizable, but meeting it with new experience and growth, made me think about the shape of life. It certainly isn't a straight line, with a clearly marked and determined passage from one point to the next and no consideration for the past. It's not a circle, where we return again and again to the same point without changing. It may bring us back to the same places and events, but when we build on the wisdom of the past, life becomes an upward spiral of growth and enrichment. Read more >

Melanie Hawkes Krieger
Aleksandra Efimova caught up with dancer Melanie Hawkes Krieger of Columbia City Ballet (South Carolina) during Melanie's recent visit to Russian Pointe Dance Boutique in Chicago. Melanie spoke eloquently about her upcoming season, her Boutique fitting with Dustin and what she loves about Russian Pointe.
"One of my favorite things about having my office next to the Boutique is that I get to meet, connect and learn from dancers from around the world who visit Chicago," Aleksandra commented. "Next time you're in Chicago, please stop by!" |

Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive 2010
Russian Pointe is thrilled to announce its sponsorship of the 2010 Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive. The new partnership blossomed after Russian Pointe's collaboration with the Summer Intensive last summer, during fittings and consultation at this prestigious international program's locations in New York City and Connecticut. This year, Russian Pointe has been named the Official Shoe for the Summer Intensive and will be involved throughout the year with such activities as program auditions, as well as returning for personal fittings next summer.

Relevé Dance-Wear Co.
Joins Russian Pointe as Authorized Retailer 
By the opening of Relevé Dance-Wear Co. (Elk Grove, CA) on November 30, owner Tamara Shewmaker will have already attended a Pointe Fitting Seminar at Russian Pointe Dance Boutique. She and husband and co-owner Jack also have their first Trunk Show Seminar planned for January. "I want to be educated," she comments. "I want to learn how to be a good fitter, so that customers can put their trust in me when I open my doors." They chose Russian Pointe because of the shoes' quality, customer requests and the sense that "Russian Pointe is clearly invested in my success as an individual and a store."

Kinney Dancewear Trunk Show
Kinney Dancewear hosted a Russian Pointe Trunk Show Seminar on October 17, at the shop in Indianapolis. At owners Jeff and Nanette Kinney's request, Stephanie Unger presented a special seminar for teachers on the 16th, as well as the customer and employee seminars and fittings on the 17th. Trunk show guests were treated to gourmet refreshments and received goodies including a mug with Kinney and Russian Pointe logos.

Joffrey Costume Vault Sale
 The first-ever look into the Joffrey Costume Vault was a great success last weekend, featuring one-of-a-kind Joffrey Ballet costumes for purchase, plus additional fashion items.
The preview party and public sale were Joffrey Ballet fundraisers, sponsored by the Joffrey Circle Associates, a group of Chicago's young professionals and ballet enthusiasts, including Aleksandra Efimova.
Hundreds of adults and children experienced the thrill of playing dress-up with costumes of inestimable value, many labeled with the names of the performers who wore them. "I picked up a marvelous gray satin and gem-embellished jacket, which I plan to wear with a tee and jeans," reported Russian Pointe artist Elizaveta Efimova, who attended with her young daughter.
