"The Moon"
Tetyana moon
My best friend and roommate Sean Hilton, whom I met in Columbia Classical Ballet, is a beautiful person, great dancer and very talented choreographer. He asked me to create costumes for his piece about the Moon. The three ladies represent three phases of the moon.
Tetyana crocheted dress
It took almost a month to make this dress because I cut thin material into little threads, and then used them for crocheting. I had found this material that was see-through and stretchy, and like a watercolor, and I could imagine it crocheted. I like it when things invisibly blend, when they overlap and you can see another structure behind them. I started making a bathing suit, but then I just couldn't stop and it turned into a dress. Tetyana Russian costume
This is a sketch for the Nutcracker Russian costumes that I designed and made for a ballet school near Philadelphia, where I used to teach.
Tetyana Lake Michigan
I enjoy working on different photography projects. Often I get an idea and collaborate with one of the photographers I met through modeling jobs. In this photo I am at Lake Michigan in Chicago, wearing a wig. It is around 5 o'clock in the morning and the water is cold, but I was so immersed in this work that I lost any sense of discomfort. Tetyana black dress

I didn't make this dress! But I like it because it has a vintage feel to it. This is from a series of shoots with photographer Bridget Cicenia, in the snow at my friend's outside theater stage.
"Blue"
Tetyana - blue
This is actually a pretty big painting, probably 30 by 15 inches, oil on canvas. I worked on it for quite a long time when I was living in Philadelphia, while Kateryna and I were trying to work out our visa situation. Because I wasn't dancing full time I actually had extra time. Olga Kresin had her ballet school there, and we were able to take classes and stay with the parents of one of her students. These amazing people, Susha and David Golomb, became like our foster parents and still support us throughout the difficulties that we face as immigrants. [photo by Joe Chielli]
"Me"
Tetyana - me
I created this drawing in black ink, and it represents my life. The biggest section, with a rose and a feather, represents my dreams; a little triangle on top of my head represents love; the moon and the ladder symbolize endless movement and reaching to something bigger and higher; the section on the left is my kitchen at home in Odessa, which represents my dear home. One of the triangles above my head is dance, and the other one is empty to represent the unknown and still-unfilled future.
 Tetyana lime shirt
I made this shirt using dried limes; I cut little limes into circles, took out the insides and while they were still soft sewed them together. As an artist I feel very connected to nature. I work a lot with things like petals, seeds and all sorts of natural material, which I usually find myself.
Tetyana skirt
This is a drawing that I made for no particular reason. I saw a picture on a flyer and it gave me this idea for a skirt design.
Tetyana flesh bodywear 3
At dance photo shoots, I love to freely move and not pose. At this shoot, we played the music of my choice and I said to photographer Curtis Williams, "OK, now I am gonna go crazy - please try to catch something awesome" and he did! I like this shot because I feel that it is balanced and aesthetic. [photo by Curtis Williams]
