Christine Du Boulay Ellis takes readers on a journey through European and American ballet of the 20th century. She tells of her career as a soloist in England's Sadler's Wells Ballet (now Royal Ballet), and offers personal stories about such legendary figures as Margot Fonteyn, Rudolf Nureyev, Frederick Ashton, Robert Joffrey, Audrey Hepburn and Ruth Page. She also writes of her husband's years in the Royal Navy during World War II, and his involvement on D-Day. She describes her move to Chicago with Mr. Ellis, the founding of the Ellis-Du Boulay School of Ballet, their close relationship with the Joffrey Ballet, and their appearance at the reopening of London's Royal Opera House, where the Ellises were honored by Queen Elizabeth II. |
