THE IMPORTANCE OF PURPOSE

THE IMPORTANCE OF PURPOSE

For many people who have lost their jobs, there can be a bright side. They do what they can to find a job, and their spare time could be used to discover their passion and find a way to earn money doing what they love.

In his book, In Search of Meaning, Victor Frankl tells of his horror-filled days as a prisoner in a Nazi prison camp. He said he made an interesting observation about those people who survived the terror and hardships of their ordeals. He stated, in effect, that those who had a purpose in life survived; those who did not see any hope or believe they a purpose, died, even if their bodies were physiologically equal.

That is a significant observation.

Wayne Dyer in Real Magic  recalls the words of the prison inmate, "Nothing is more likely to help a person overcome or endure troubles than the consciousness of having a task in life."

You can alter his words a bit by using the word passion in place of task.  "Nothing is more likely to help a person overcome or endure troubles than the consciousness of having a passion in life."

That's what you want to uncover as you progress through the process of finding your "next phase."

Living your passion changes your life.

BOOK REVIEW -  DOING WHAT YOU LOVE, LOVING WHAT YOU DO

Robert Anthony's book
, Doing What You Love, Loving What You Do, is one of the most influential books in my library. It was well worth the time it took to type my underlines and notes. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Because of its length, only one part will be presented at a time. ENJOY!!

DOING WHAT YOU LOVE, LOVING WHAT YOU DO

DR. ROBERT ANTHONY

THE BIGGEST RISK IN LIFE IS IN NOT RISKING.

Your dreams exist in your mind, but they need to be brought to life through action.
You will know when you are on the right path, for then, things will begin to happen. The right doors will open. The right people will come into your life, and the situations and circumstances that surround you will seem to support everything you do.

Ramon's principles for success:  To always be honest, and grateful, to have a good attitude to do the best job you know how, to communicate well, and to always keep things simple, giving more than you were being paid for.

Get into the habit of writing down whatever it is that you want to accomplish. Define each plan in terms of how you are going to achieve your objectives. Writing it all down in outline form, you can would take each topic and break it down to the smallest detail, then determine what resources will be needed to accomplish your plan.

Success has more to do with choices than anything else - the freedom to choose what it is you want to do in life and having the resources to pursue those choices, whatever those resources might be.

If you really love what you're doing, you'll never work another day in your life. It really isn't a matter of finding the one thing that's perfect, but finding whatever seems best at the time.

If someone didn't know exactly what they wanted to do, they they could begin by making a list of various things that had always interested them. Jot down whatever occurs to you. Through a process of elimination, determine which thing or things appeal to you to most.

Another way is to not focus on the job at all, but rather focus on the activities and conditions you most like to surround yourself with. If you wish to improve in life, you must first place yourself in an improved environment. If you wish to succeed, you will need to associate with people who think on a higher level, who have higher principles, and who communicate in a truly positive way; in other words, people with higher ideals.

One of the major elements of success is helping other people get what they want. In order to do that, you have to make sure that they win, and that they feel they have won, according to their own individual perceptions of winning.

Happiness in not having what you want, but wanting what you have. If you focus on the bad, it becomes your reality.

Since your thoughts produce your feelings, if your thoughts are bad, then your feelings will be bad, and the quality of your life will also be bad.

Success is about knowing what you need to do, and when you need to do it.  Results are all that matter. Excuses don't count. Integrity is vital to your success, that any kind of long-term success is impossible without it.

There is tremendous power in being predictable in a positive way. It isn't so much what happens but how we feel about what happens that makes the difference.  We are totally responsible for ourselves and everything that happens to us.

You are creating your destiny each day with every act you commit or fail to commit. Effort should be made to choose the destiny you really want.

The next step is to do something each day that will bring you a little closer to your objective, however inconsequential an act it may appear to be. The important thing is to keep moving ahead, with your eye on the target.  Never, never, never give up.

Two Ways to Find Your Passion

1. What do people thank you for?

2. How do people ask you to help them?

Keep an on-going list until something comes together, creating an idea for you that you KNOW, without question, will give you the greatest satisfaction.

LOOKING BACKHeadline

Change Your Thoughts and You Change Your World

Did you ever notice how much your mood is affected by the weather? Sunshine lifts me up and makes me feel I can do anything, yet I love rainy days. It's the cloudy, gloomy days that somehow have the ability to weigh me down, to darken my perspective of the world. That's why I so enjoy the following clip:. The creator of the video, Marci Shimoff, just authored a new book,
Happy for No Reason Video - Marci Shimoff
Happy for No Reason Video - Marci Shimoff

Although I know that darkness and gloom can be readily dispelled by consciously opting for thoughts of gratitude and joy, the transition is not always easy. The oft-repeated Norman Vincent Peale quotation "Change your thoughts and you change your world" does have validity! 'Tis a great quote to keep in mind.

TAKE A BREAK AND LAUGH ABOUT IT.....

LESSONS MY MOTHER TAUGHT ME

1. My mother taught me TO APPRECIATE A JOB WELL DONE.

"If you're going to kill each other, do it outside. I just finished cleaning."

2. My mother taught me RELIGION.

"You better pray that will come out of the carpet!"

3. My mother taught me about TIME TRAVEL.

""If you don't straighten up, I'm going to knock you into the middle of next week!

4. My mother taught me LOGIC.

"Because I said so, that's why."

5. My mother taught me MORE LOGIC.

"If you fall out of that swing and break your neck, you're not going to the store with me."

6. My mother taught me FORESIGHT.

"Make sure you wear clean underwear, in case you're in an accident."
