Financially Fit Clients
Financial Education Class

GRACE Clients have recently begun courses to improve their budgeting skills.

Courses are offered in both English and Spanish, and new clients complete the course as part of their ongoing case management. Our goal at GRACE is to provide emergency assistance to needy clients, but we want to ensure that they are equipped to care for themselves once they leave GRACE.

While we provide for people when they need it, we then guide them to self-sufficiency with the hope that they too can give back their time and resources to the Grapevine community.

The Transitional Housing program at GRACE has long included a crucial financial education component, and we are happy to extend this benefit to the broader population at GRACE.

Congratulations to our most recent graduates!

Area Churches Support Holiday Food Distribution
Good Shepherd Check Presentation
(l-r) GRACE Program Director Francia Arrigan, Good Shepherd Representative Deb McNamara, GRACE Executive Director Shonda Schaefer

Good Shepherd Catholic Community donated nearly $6,500 to support the GRACE Food Pantry holiday food distribution. Compass Christian Church also donated enough to purchase nearly 400 turkeys, so families can now enjoy the holidays with a warm and festive meal. Seniors will receive holiday commodities deliveries on November 16th.

Deb McNamara of Good Shepherd shares that the community has nearly tripled the funds raised specifically for the food distribution.

Especially considering that this surge of generosity coincided with the recession and increased need for GRACE's services, we are so happy that these faith communities have stepped up and contributed to needy families.
GRACE Kids Choose New Clothes

Through Kids Matter International's Around the Block program, Kohl's department store in Southlake is opening their doors on November 15th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM to needy kids so that they can choose new clothing for school. Nearly 300 of our young clients have been accepted for this program.Kids New Clothing Each child will receive a $100 gift card to shop inside Kohl's that night with a max of $400 per family. Buckner Baptist Foundation will provide shoes, and the Ryan Palmer Foundation will provide backpacks.

While the GRACE Clothing Room always has gently used clothes for our young clients, the kids will love choosing new items with their favorite characters and colors.

To help facilitate this gigantic shopping spree, GRACE needs volunteers to partner with kids at the department store. If you're a fashionista or a savvy shopper, this is an excellent opportunity to exercise your creativity while helping a child choose some much-needed clothing for school.

Volunteers will need to arrive at Kohl's in Southlake between 3:00 and 4:00 PM on November 15th. If you are interested, please register online at kidsmatterinternational.org.

Contact Client Services Manager Bethany Carroll at 817-488-7009 ext. 101 if you have any questions about the sign-up process.
