Lean Healthcare Transformation Summit - Registration Open

Registration is now open for our first annual Lean Healthcare Transformation Summit, to be held June 9-10 in Orlando. Our website now has full details about the Summit and the optional Pre-Summit Workshops to be held on June 7 and 8. Click here for more info and to register.

The Summit will feature a keynote by John Toussaint, M.D., CEO of the ThedaCare Center for Healthcare Value and co-author of the upcoming book On The Mend: Revolutionizing Healthcare to Save Lives and Transform the Industry, as well as plenary sessions by senior leaders from ThedaCare (Dean Gruner, MD, President and CEO) and Group Health (Michael Erikson, MSW, Vice President Primary Care Services).

A wide variety of breakouts and learning sessions will cover topics such as A3 thinking, end-to-end patient flow, facilities and process design, lean in emergency departments,  and new lean models for primary care and inpatient care. All of these sessions will be presented by members of the Healthcare Value Leaders Network, including:
  • University of Michigan Health System
  • Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital
  • Iowa Health System
  • Park Nicollet Health Services
  • Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, IA
We think there is something for everybody that will help you in your lean journey, whether you are just starting or if you have a few years of experience.

We hope to see you and your colleagues there with us in Orlando.

Forming our Second and Third Networks

Our second Network will begin operations in April. The final list of participating organizations will be announced in our next newsletter. The original Network, which started in June 2009, will continue operating into its second year.

Our model is to have a number of Networks, each of 12 to 15 organizations. These Networks will be linked through our annual Lean Healthcare Transformation Summit and our private online collaboration site, while remaining separate for on-site learning and network events that will be held within each Network.

Based on strong interest, we are expecting to form a third Network that will begin in late 2010. A planning meeting for that Network will be held in conjunction with our Lean Healthcare Transformation Summit in June. If you are interested in future Network membership, please sign up at our website.
