The deadline for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid is quickly approaching! Monday, March 1st is the final day to submit the FAFSA in order to qualify for federal and Maryland state financial aid, and to apply for CollegeBound's Last Dollar Grant and Competitive Scholarships.

All students planning to enroll in college in autumn 2010 must submit the FAFSA to determine their eligibility for financial assistance. More information about applying is available online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.

The CollegeBound Foundation Last Dollar Grant is a need-based award for Baltimore City public high school seniors only. Eligible students may receive up to $3,000 per year, renewable for five years. Recipients must plan to attend a four-year public or private Maryland college. More information and the application is available online here.

The Competitive Scholarship program is a common application with over 100 different scholarship opportunities offered by individuals, organizations, foundations and businesses. The criteria differ for each award, so read carefully. These awards are only for Baltimore City public high school seniors. Some examples of scholarships include the Baltimore Ravens Scholarship, the Hilton Baltimore Convention Center Hotel Scholarship Fund, The Travelers Insurance Companies, Inc. Scholarship, the Mars Supermarket Educational Fund, and many, many more! Click here for the application. In addition, CollegeBound administers a handful of awards for seniors at public schools in surrounding counties: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard.
