Midnight

Midnight
is our special horse of the month.

Midnight is a beautiful Morgan about 16 hands very thick, and a very strong minded horse.  She does not like to be bullied and will do whatever you "ask", as long as she is "asked" in the correct way. She had some bad treatment in the past - so will need some time to become trustworthy again.  She stands nice for the farrier now and will stay in a stall with no issues.  She will trailer in a stock trailer but does not do well in a two horse.  Midnight has come a long way but still needs a lot of ground work and an experience rider that will be patient and understanding.

Thanks To Our Event Sponsors
Our events would not be possible with out their support!

Healing Horse Spirit Pow Wow

HorseNet hits the Powwow trail! This past April 12th & 13th HorseNet hosted its very first intertribal powwow. We were fortunate to have been able to get the Mt. Airy Carnival Grounds and had a great turnout. Saturday the weather was great and it was a wonderful event to see and many people stopped in just by seeing the full sized tipi from the road. We had gourd dancers, honor guard, a grand entry with 8 horses which has not been done on the east coast for many years, wagon rides, 5 different drum groups (one came from Canada -- another from ND), several well known entertainers (several NAMMY nominees - NAMMY is the Native American form of the Grammy) that performed on flute, guitar and sang -- not to mention all the wonderful dancers in their regalia everything from traditional to fancy shawl dancers. The arbor - dance circle- was full of beautiful colors and feathers of all kinds -- truly a wonderful sight. For those of you who were unable to come there are pics on the website if you'd like to see what you missed!

We are already planning for next year - and are hoping to incorporate a school day for education where local school children can come and learn about native heritage. We are planning to have even more native vendors with all sorts of things from Native American jewelry to artistry -- and all good quality too. All in all it was a wonderful experience and one that we are looking forward to again and again. Ya'll come next year May 15-17, 2009!

I first want to send a special thank you to everyone who joined us for this event!  We couldn't of asked for better weather for this years walk or after walk celebration.

This years walk was a lot of fun, there were many volunteers that where able to join us for this great afternoon.  We were excited to see a lot of familiar faces and meet some new friends.  We were also excited to meet the special 4 legged guests and a wonderful mini horse named Gizmo. He kept our Jake company, which made him very happy because he did not have to hang out with the doggies.

After our walk we had a relaxing afternoon with fantastic live music, friends and lunch!  During the award ceremony prizes were given out to our top walkers.  Stewart & Janet Sutton raised an amazing $1,031.00 and received the 1st place Golden Horse Shoe Award.  They won a large gift set designed by Michelle Original that included a gift certificate donated from P.U.P.S Dog Obedience Training for a training session, many wonderful toys and treats donated from Mount Airy's Pet Loft, great items and a gift card from Pet Smart.  This wonderful prize is perfect for their dogs Sweety & Renny.  King & Carol Fox were able to raise $530.00 and received the 2nd place Golden Horse Shoe Award.  They won a horse theme gift basket designed by Michelle Original that included a gift certificate for an equine massage donated by Hands on Horses LLC, a gift certificate for a classical dressage riding lesson donated by Spring Fever Farm and a gift certificate for a free coverall for women donated from Body Covers.  I am sure that the Fox's horses, Chance and Clean Sweep (a HorseNet foster horse), are very excited and are patiently waiting for their massage session!  Let's not forget HorseNet's very special 6 year old friend Faith Haines who raised $505.00 and received the 1st place Golden Horse Show Award in our children's division.  She won a gift box designed by Michelle Original which included a gift certificate to Air Mania, a giant inflatable easel and many fun crafts.

It was truly a wonderful day!  Together along with everyone's hard work we are proud to say that we raise over $3,000 to help us care for
our rescued horses.

If you were not able to join us this year for this celebration, I hope you will plan on coming next year and walk with us to help our horses.
