ADVANCEMENT NEWS

Taste of Harding

Check out the list of restaurants and caterers that will be partnering with us for Taste of Harding. The list is growing! We will be at the Farmer's Market Barn at the Agricenter on Saturday, March 31, at 5:30 p.m. There will be live entertainment throughout the evening including the "Sheriffs of Nottingham." They are an eclectic mix of rock, blues, and soul, but most of all they are unmistakably Memphis. The band members are Justin Jamerson ('00), Kevin Lipe (class of '05), Kyle Fagala, and Curry Smith. Trivia - Who is Justin Jamerson? He is the son of our very own Harding White Station principal, "Miss" Bonnie Jamerson.

GUIDANCE NEWS

Mother/Daughter Evening ~ 5th Grade

Our annual evening out for fifth grade girls and their mothers will be held on Tuesday, March 27, on the Cherry Road campus. The session will get underway at 7:00 p.m. We hope you are making plans to attend.

Reminder to 7th Grade Parents

Achievement tests will be taken by 7th graders the week after Spring Break. The test will be on the mornings of Tuesday, March 20, and Thursday, March 22.

Keep in mind that the two most important ways to help your child to prepare are eating a good breakfast and being well rested. Eating properly and a good night's sleep can have an amazing impact on a student's ability to perform well on standardized tests. Make sure your child takes time to sleep well the night before the test and is able to eat a hearty and nutritious breakfast the next morning.

Check the Cherry Road Daily Bulletin on Monday, March 19, for information on what your student should bring to the test.

The AP Calculus class at Cherry Road needs our help. They will be competing in the annual Canstruction Competition at the University of Memphis. They will be taking a trip down the "Yellow Brick Road" on their way to the "Emerald City" which will be built out of canned goods. The team would appreciate donations of solid green and solid yellow cans of food. The donations can be dropped off in the bin in the school office until Wednesday, March 21. After the competition, the canned food items will be donated to the Memphis Food Bank.

This Week in Elementary Athletics
1.  Although sports have not started playing yet, we need to take the team pictures Saturday, March 24. The annual staff has asked that we have pictures taken by March 24th to have them put in the school annual for 2011-2012. The pictures will be taken at our Cherry Road campus in the senior courtyard. Go through the wrought iron gate at the side of the Ellers gym to get to the senior patio.  If the weather is rainy or cold, we will take pictures in the Ellers gym. Parents will be able to purchase pictures at this time. Payment is required at the time of the pictures and checks should be payable to Holland Studio. 3.  As soon as Mrs. Betty receives the schedules for soccer, tee ball, and coach pitch, she will pass them along to you. Tee ball and coach pitch will not start until the first of May and depending on the weather will finish sometime at the end of June or first of July.
4.  There are still some open spots for tee ball if your SK child has decided to play. Just call Miss Betty's office at 901-312-2837 or email her at browning.betty@hardinglions.org.
