Mosaic of Founders to be Unveiled

The restored Memphis Christian School Mosaic will

be unveiled on Wednesday, October 19, at 8:30 a.m.

Former Harding Academy president, Dr. Harold Bowie, will do the honors and speak in chapel afterwards. Descendants of some of the founders will be present as well as board members and other alumni. There will be a light reception for attendees.

Mrs. Leah Scott, the school's first art teacher,
designed the mosaic and supervised its assembly.
It was intended to be the first of three panels.
Many students from the early 1960's worked on this  massive project.

The mosaic was restored through contributions from alumni, family, and friends of the founders of
Memphis Christian School (Now Harding Academy of Memphis). The work was completed by Jerry Couillard, owner of MetalWorks Design Studios. The picture above is of the original mosaic taken in the early 1970's.
