This Week's Highlights

SYAP - Cordova 2011

See You at the Pole

On Wednesday, all the Cordova students, EC1 through 6th grade, gathered around the Cordova Elementary flags to observe "See You at the Pole." They sang songs and prayed for our nation and all who serve our country. We are very fortunate to live in this country and to attend a school where we have the freedom to worship and pray each day. The White Station and Cherry Road campuses will observe "See You at the Pole" on Wednesday, September 28.

National Merit Commended Students

Four Harding Academy students have been named Commended Students in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program.  Commended Students placed in the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2012 competition by taking the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). These scholastically talented students will receive a letter of commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program.

"The young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," commented a spokesperson for NMSC. "These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.  We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."

Harding's Commended Students are John Frizzell, Madison Massey, Jacob Matthews, and Audrey Sharp.

Harding Theatre's Fall Production

Mark your calendars for Harding Academy's fall production, The Skin of Our Teeth by Thornton Wilder, October 20 - 22 at 7:00 p.m.  This is a fabulously fun comedy through the human experience . . . with some prominent voices from literary history . . .  with a twinge of a dark side. The Skin of Our Teeth is directed by Cheryl McClurg so it is sure to be a "must see" for fall.
