A Note from Jay

I will be launching my blog this week. Go check it out. I will be blogging about food, wine, beer, gardening and farming, and the restaurant business in general.   I may even delve into some social and political issues that affect our business, our diet and American food culture. I'm looking forward to seeing the comments people post. Hope that you log on!

Well, summer is coming to an end and we are beginning to think about the fall menu. Though beautiful tomatoes, corn and legumes continue to come in, we're Root Vegetablesexcited about planning for fall root veggies like parsnips, turnips and rutabagas, the winter squashes like butternut, spaghetti squash and pumpkin and the tree fruits as well. We just got in an early case of quinces - we are using them in a chutney that we will serve with fresh Ham at Taste of Atlanta in October and want to work on the recipe.

A couple of upcoming events that you don't want to miss. The Emory University Sustainable Food Fair is next Friday on campus on Cox Bridge from 10:30 am until 1:00 pm. We'll have a table there so stop by and sample some of our fresh farm-to-table cooking and help us promote food sustainability.

Don't miss the Fall in the 4th Festival on September 26!

Caja China Grill

We've already reserved two 70-pound pigs to roast on our Caja China Grill. Plus we'll be rolling our wood burning grill onto the patio to cook fresh veggies and fish. Enjoy Fingerling Potato Salad, Horseradish-Watercress Slaw, Heirloom Tomatoes and more. It's all you can eat for $20 per person plus a cash bar. What a great way to celebrate the coming of fall.
