A Note from Jay
 Soup and Sandwich
The "Attack of the Killer Tomato Fest" last Sunday was tons of fun. A great job by all the organizers and chefs. Cool, sunny venue. Cool, tasty beverages. Cool, familiar, foodie crowd. Lots of tasty tomato dishes. Would definitely do it again. Thanks to JCT kitchen and Melissa Libby and Associates for inviting us.

We brought Grilled Sweet Grass Dairy Chèvre Sandwiches with Chilled Tomato and Zucchini Soup to the event. We decided to run a version in the restaurant as well just because it was such a hit!

This Week's Market Update:
Soft shells have been coming in beautiful this week. Big and plump. They match up terrifically with a salad of summer field peas and radishes with a light mustard dressing. The all-natural beef from Sweetwater Farms Beef in Tennessee continues to be delicious. This week we have some tenderloins and briskets.

Golden BeetsRed and yellow local beets are in and gorgeous.
I'm thinking "deconstructed borscht":
Braised brisket, potatoes, red beets, cabbage
and caraway-horseradish aïoli.
Are you feeling it?

 Pastry Kitchen Corner
Sweet News from the Kitchen:
Please welcome our new Pastry Chef, Chrysta Umberger,
and her sinfully delicious new dessert menu - both are
a huge hit. We are thrilled to have her passion and
creativity in the kitchen. So if you haven't had dessert
at 4th & Swift lately, now is definitely the time.

Great Neighborhood News:
There are construction trailers and heavy equipment on site at the future Fourth Ward Historic Park site. By this time next year we will have a pond and lots of green space right next door. It is officially the first Beltline Project and we hope it will bring lots of attention to our burgeoning neighborhood.

Keep on reading for details about other cool happenings at 4th & Swift this summer.
