| Volunteers attend Emergency Volunteer Search Force Training |
|
On February 26, Nevada Child Seekers held a Volunteer Search Force Training in partnership with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Sgt. Peter Ferrante of LVMPD's Missing Persons Unit presented search force protocol and tips to an audience of Metro (MVP) and Nevada Child Seekers volunteers. When a child goes missing and law enforcement determines they need the help of the community, Nevada Child Seekers' trained volunteer search force is "called out" to assist. We will be asked to canvass an area in search of information and clues. While mass searches are infrequent, they can be intensive and involve a high level of activity including climbing stairs and walking. This two-hour training session helps prepare volunteers for when these crisis situations occur. Nevada Child Seekers has a goal to increase the search force by an additional 200 people and will hold periodic training sessions throughout the year. Volunteers must undergo a background check and training before they can participate in searches. If you or someone you know is interested in this volunteer opportunity, please call our office at 702-458-7009 or even easier, fill in a volunteer application on line at Emergency Volunteer Search Force. |
