The Four Special Mitzvos of Purim
  • Reading the Megillah of Esther at night and again during the day
  • Enjoying a festive meal on Purim day (Seudah)
  • Sending gifts of food to one another (Mishloach Manos)
  • Giving gifts to those in need (Matanos L'Evyonim)
Rambam (Maimonides) writes in relation to Purim: "It is better for one to increase gifts to the poor than to enlarge his feast or give more gifts to his friends. For there is no greater and more wonderful joy than to make happy the hearts of the poor..." (Hilchot Megillah Chap. 2).

I would love to help you fulfill the Mitzvah of giving gifts to the needy (both locally and in Israel) via KI's Rabbi's Discretionary Fund. Checks can be made out to "KI's Rabbi's Discretionary Fund" with "Purim" in the memo. Please send in your checks ASAP.

Wishing you a wonderful Purim!

Rabbi Akiva Males
