Dr. Anthony Bogues to give Ruth First Annual Memorial Lecture
The lecture, titled "Trauma, Memory and Democracy: Race, Freedom and the Politics of Historical Catastrophe in South Africa", will will think about apartheid as historical catastrophe and wonder about a politics of truth telling, testimony and witnessing as adequate politics that works through this form of trauma.
Schusterman Center to host 27th Association for Israel Studies Conference
The Association for Israel Studies is an international scholarly society devoted to the academic and professional study of Israel. The Association's membership is composed of scholars from all disciplines in the social sciences and many in the humanities.  The 2011 conference, based upon the topic "Israel as a Jewish and Democratic State", will bring together 300 participants from the U.S., Israel and Europe.
