Schwartz tells Americans to be more responsible
"The United States is amidst a period of great economic and political change, transforming from a hegemonic force in finance, innovation, science and military affairs to one that must adopt a more cooperative engagement with the rest of the world", prominent businessman, philanthropist, and progressive-policy advocate Bernard Schwartz told participants in Brandeis International Business School's sixth annual New Year's Celebration in New York City.

New "Insatiable" art exhibit showcases interpretations of gluttony
This juried exhibition, "Insatiable: Our Rapacious Appetite for More", will feature work by 42 artists from the US and abroad that explores our ravenous craving for excess and/or the consequences of indulging our endless desire for more.  The show runs until March 10th, with an Opening Reception on February 3rd and artists talks on Feb. 3rd and 24th.

Volunteerism, spirit abound in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr.
About 300 volunteers from area universities, immigrant-aid organizations and community activists fanned out from the Brandeis campus to a wide range of public service projects in celebration of Martin Luther King Day.  See also "MLK Day offers opportunities for service, reflection" for more details about this amazing event.
