Introducing President-elect Frederick Lawrence

Incoming Brandeis president forged partnerships in India while dean of George Washington Law School

Here in Waltham, we are all excited about our next president -- Fred Lawrence. He is a leading expert on law and civil rights and, formerly, the dean of the George Washington University Law School.

But President-elect Lawrence is also a dedicated globalist, and at George Washington, one of his primary projects was expanding the law school's partnerships in India. He traveled almost every year to India, professing that he was bitten by the "India bug."

President-elect Lawrence has already said that building partnerships in India is a long-term goal, and one only done under the mantra of mutual benefit. He hopes to continue and build upon the initial work of the Brandeis-India Initiative and President Jehuda Reinharz.

You'll be hearing much more from Fred Lawrence, and about him, in the coming months. In the mean time, we wish you a safe and happy holidays.
