Leonard Bernstein Festival: Connect/Reconnect Through Art

The annual Leonard Bernstein Festival of the Creative Arts comes to Brandeis April 28 to May 2 through concerts, plays and art exhibitions across campus. The festival kicks off on April 28 with an unveiling of "Source/ReSource," a large-scale public artwork created by Michael Dowling, outside of the Rose Art Museum. Most events are free and open to the public. Read More.

Julian Olidort '11, invited his grandfather, acclaimed painter Marc Klionsky, to campus last Sunday to share his artwork and the Russian-Jewish immigration experience. The event followed up a series of BGI events April 7 - 10 celebrating Russian culture, including a Russian Ball. Read More.
Honorary Degree Recipients to Include Michael Oren and Paul Farmer

Michael B. Oren, Israeli Ambassador to the United States, will be the featured speaker at the university's 59th commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 23rd. Honorary degrees will also be awarded to Paul Farmer, founder of Partners in Health, the Honorable Judith S. Kaye, Spanish author Antonio Muñoz Molina, National Security Council member Dennis B. Ross, and 12 time Grammy winner Paul Simon. Read More.

Daniel Terris, director of the International Center for Ethics, Justice and Public Life, writes an op-ed in the LA Times condemning personal attacks against Judge Richard Goldstone, author of the controversial UN report on the Gaza conflict.  Read More.
Study abroad adds program at The Hague for spring 2011

The Hague summer program has been extended into a spring 2011 study abroad option. The spring program will give 10 students the opportunity to take three or four classes, participate in in-depth research, and an internship program.  There will also be opportunities to participate in workshops with lawyers and judges from the International Criminal Court (ICC). Measuing Equality Between Jewish and Arab Citizens of Israel

On Tuesday, May 11, Ron Gerlitz and Ali Hader, Co-Executive Directors of Sikkuy, will provide insights into their most recent Sikkuy Equality Index, measuring the socio-economic gaps between Jewish and Arab citizens of Israel. RSVP by 4/29. Read More.
