FALL LETTER TO THE COMMUNITY

Dear members of the Brandeis community,

In my first year leading the new Office of Global Affairs, I have been privileged to see more clearly the depth and breadth of Brandeis University's international engagements.

The Brandeis approach to global has and should be rooted to our culture. It should be tied to Brandeis core strengths in challenging assumptions, preparing future citizen-leaders, and putting the commitment to social justice into action...

What's going on in the Middle East?
TODAY, Aug. 28, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Rapaporte Treasure Hall, Goldfarb

Crown Center senior faculty and staff will lead a discussion on the hottest issues in the Middle East today and the challenges they pose for the next President of the United States. Reception to follow.


Visiting Scholar Fu Youde (China)
Director of the Center for Judaic Studies at Shandong University in China will visit Brandeis Sept. 4 - 12 for a series of lectures and teach-ins on Judaism and Confusianism, and modern China.
Global Affairs Forum
Fall 2008
The
new Global Affairs Forum matches the student organization Gen Ed Now with the Wien International Scholars to create a comprehensive and ongoing foreign affairs dialogue with a true global perspective on campus...

Distinguished Visiting Practitioner: Brian Williams
Feb. 2009
Epidemiologist with the World Health Organization will visit campus to address the issue of "human rights" versus "public health" approaches to the management of disease.


On-going exhibition: Dress/Redress
The exhibition brings together eight contemporary artists who - critically, ambivalently, or monumentally - address the relationship between clothing and identity.
