English Teachers in Japan

Map of Japan

1.  Pray for guidance and protection for pastors Maki and Okubo, the Funehiki Evangelical Church and the school staff at Wakakusa school.  Pray for protection and provision for the Japanese people affected by the recent tragic events.  Pray that the hearts of the people will be opened to the gospel.

2.  Pray for our American English teachers.  They will be leaving Funehiki/Tamura Friday, March 18, for Tokyo and will fly to the U.S. Tuesday, March 22.  Five of the teachers are scheduled to return to Japan when things are normalized and safe.

3.  The orientation for 8 new American English teachers will be held at Grace Fellowship on

March 27 - April 1.  Their departure for Japan will probably be delayed until a later date.

Our Celeste Laser will be one of the returning teachers.  Returning to the U.S. after this traumatic event may leave her emotional system shocked.  Pray for her and be thoughtful.

$1,800 was collected this past Sunday service for the Japan (Funehiki) relief fund.  The Mansfield Sister City Committee is also raising money to help our sister city in Japan.

Our Annual Conference is only days away (April 8 and 9). If you haven't registered yet, please do so as soon as possible. It is big help to know how many are coming early so all preparations can be made.

The theme is "Transformation: The Process of Change in a Believer's Life." Along with 5 general sessions, there will be 10 workshops and the Friday evening worship/ministry time. We want to encourage all of our leaders to be with us April 8 and 9. It will be a good time and we will grow.

You can now register up to 10 people at one time. Please help us by having the workshop choices
(helps with room assignments), address, phone, and email for each one on hand when you register for someone else .

Recently I returned from a trip to the Scums of the Earth. Yes, there are plural Scums! Denver is led by the founder, Mike Sares, and Seattle is led by Zach McCauley. I was impacted again by the heart desire of these men to connect with the needs of the next generation while not ignoring the cries of any generation that comes their way. These two outposts of the grace of God are some of the best displays of God's heart for inter-generational unity.

Whenever I go to Denver, I stay with Jim & Amy Croft,
