Grants and Programs

Bookkeepers Flight

North Coast SBDC's first-ever flight for bookkeepers has begun, and we're looking forward to the next 6 months to be full of learning, networking, and lots of business planning.

The program has a strong emphasis on marketing through networking, and public speaking.  Business Advisor Catherine De Santis will be leading the participants in two workshops designed to craft and practice the elevator pitch, first with some instruction and second at a Chamber Mixer.   group of people colorful abstract

The group then heads on into the realm of public speaking, when Michael Kraft will provide some of his expertise gained through his involvement in Toastmasters.

The flight program wraps up when each client gives a short presentation of their business plan to each other in a closed group setting.

ReProp Financial Offers SBA Loan Program

With its new Equity Advantage Program that features the SBA 504 Owner-Occupied Real Estate Loan Program, small business owners can now take advantage of historically low interest rates to purchase commercial real estate property for loan amounts from $200,000-$1.9 million, with interest rates near a standard bank rate.

For as little as 10% down, small business owners may be able to take advantage of the SBA 504 loan program. Total financing up to 90% of the purchase price or current value of commercial real estate is available.

Another program is the short term "transitional" financing where ReProp aims to bridge the gap in the borrower's needs. For instance, it can lend when institutional financiers will not - particularly for hospitality or land loans, or because their income stream is not yet robust enough or consistent enough for prime time lending.

For information or an interview, contact Glenn Goldan at (707) 444-7711 or through the ReProp website at  www.repropfinancial.com.

Events

Third Street Maker Fair

Origin Design Lab and Eureka Main Street will host the first Third Street Maker Fair on Aug. 6 from noon to 8 p.m.

The fair, to be held on Third Street between E and F streets and Clark Plaza, will include live music, craft vendors and a flea market-style de-stash area where crafters can buy and sell supplies. Additionally, there will be a "Maker Tent" where people can sign up to learn a new craft.

This event was inspired by Humboldt County's thriving creative community and plans are that it will become a yearly event that celebrates the unique do-it-yourself culture of the area.

Vendors and event volunteers are still being sought for this event and are encouraged to contact Origin Design Lab for more information at 426 Third St. in Eureka or call 497-6237.
