It's almost Lemonade Day on the North Coast!
Show your support for these budding entrepreneurs
by getting your thirst quenched
at lemonade stands on June 4th.
As the kids are having fun experimenting with lemonade recipes, designing and crafting a lemonade stand and selling lemonade to friends and neighbors, they actually will be learning important life lessons that they can utilize throughout their life. Look for lemonade stands at all the local events, including Pony Express Days, Crabs Season Opener, Fortuna City Wide Yard Sale, and Eureka's Arts Alive! Microenterprise Prosperity Scholarship Flight Accepting last-minute applications! Participants attend workshops with their peers, meet with a dedicated business advisor, complete a business plan, and make a savings deposit of at least $50 a month -- and get $2 for every $1 saved! We're gearing up to start this program, but if you know anyone who may have missed the application deadline please have them contact us. Bookkeepers Flight
Application deadline extended Informational meetings will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 7:30 AM and on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 4:30 PM in the large conference room located at 520 E Street in Eureka.
This is an opportunity for local bookkeeping professionals to participate in a free, intensive business training, mentorship, and resource development program.
Much like all of our flights, this program includes industry-tailored workshops, business advising, development and completion of a business plan, and peer networking.

I-9 Handbook, E-Verify Self-Check Are New Tools for Verifying Employment Eligibility The 2011 Handbook for Employers: Instructions for Completing Form I-9 (M-274) provides improved instructions and visual aids on a variety of topics related to Form I-9. Many topics, including help guides, were recently updated. Some of the topics included: examples of how to complete each section of the form, questions and answers on what constitutes a Native American tribal document, adds a Form I-9 retention calculator to help employers assess how long they must retain the form, and clarification on when a leave of absence is considered a break in employment, and whether a new Form I-9 is necessary.
