Seventeen years too late, but I am still happy ... By Ann Seacrest, RN, IBCLC, Executive Director, MilkWorks
 | | Ann Seacrest |
The Supreme Court ruling this week on the Affordable Health Care Act is monumental for breastfeeding mothers. Not only does "Obamacare" amend the Fair Labor Standards Act and require that employers provide reasonable breaks and private space for mothers to pump, but as of August 1, 2012, health plans must begin phasing in 100% coverage of certain proven preventive health services, including breast pumps and lactation support.

Understanding Our Mission
|
 | Mr. Richard Agee
| MilkWorks lost one of its best friends recently with the passing of Mr. Richard Agee, President of the Rogers Foundation. Over the past ten years, the Rogers Foundation has provided yearly support to MilkWorks and has been our largest financial donor. Mr. Agee explained that he and his wife, Eloise, spent many years living in California and were involved in the preservation of Bighorn Sheep. They learned that when bighorn lambs were separated from their mothers or weaned too early, they did not survive. As a result, he understood the importance of feeding human babies human milk.
Our condolences to Mrs. Agee and the Agee family. We appreciate the support of the Rogers Foundation as they help us create a healthier community by helping mothers breastfeed their babies.

Twin Talk is a new moms' group at MilkWorks designed just for moms of multiples. It is a perfect time and place to share ideas and learn from other moms. The next meetings are Thursday, July 5 and July 19 at 10:30 am. Siblings are welcome! Read more about a new mom's story of breastfeeding her twin baby girls.
