A unique all-in-one diaper design that combines the convenience of an all-in-one diaper while providing the absorbency adjustability of a pocket diaper. It is made with a waterproof outer layer and 11 layers of 100% cotton birdseye fabric in the wet zone.

We all know that human babies must be protected. They need to be kept warm and dry, well fed and safe. Our babies also need to be held and loved so they learn to trust and be part of our society. The vast majority of parents work very hard to make this happen.
Many of my friends, who are now becoming grandparents, have noticed the incredible number of rules young parents face today. Sleep positions. 6-point car seat harness systems. Safety approved high chairs. Rigid and multiple immunization schedules. Sling recalls. Baby CPR. It's enough to make those of us with older children shudder and wonder how our children ever survived.
An infant injury or death is devastating to parents and family members. And in a perfect world, no child would ever get hurt. In our attempt to create a safer world for children, we must stop and realize that all the rules in the world will not make perfection. And when life throws us non-perfection, we need to avoid judgment. We need to extend support instead.
Parents need role models and support to help take care of their babies. Once parents walk out of the hospital setting, they need to know where they can turn. When they are frustrated, when they need information, when their baby won't sleep without being held, when they need a break or when they need to hear they are doing a good job. All of us play a role in helping parents create a safe and healthy environment for their infants. An environment that will never guarantee perfection, but will help new parents do the very best that they can. It is the most we can ask of anyone.
We hope that MilkWorks, as a community breastfeeding center, is one source of support for new parents. We are here 7 days a week. Ready to answer feeding questions, provide guidance and reassurance, or help parents find the support they need elsewhere. Parents were not meant to parent alone.

Exercise is helpful in restoring body tone and preventing depression. If you need someone to walk with, come to Mom Talk, our mom's group, and form a walking group. Spring is a perfect time to be out of doors in Nebraska!

Milk & Cookies Cocktails and Dessert

Our Best Beginnings fund drive committee is hosting a cocktail party and dessert tasting fundraiser in the home of Patti and Tim Gardner, in the beautiful Southfork neighborhood, Saturday evening, June 4th. The event, planned by MilkWorks volunteers and board members, will feature a signature milk-based cocktail and signature cookies, along with a variety of desserts and beverages. Please join us at this very fun event and support mothers and babies at the same time. A perfect Mother's Day present! Watch for an invitation to appear!
(Also, coming in July- A Family Festival at Prairie Hill Learning Center! We want all MilkBabies and their parents to come and celebrate our 10 years. Watch for more details!)

Meet Patti Gardner, a member of the MilkWorks Board of Directors and a very talented woman -  | | Patti Gardner |
Patti and her family moved to Nebraska from Wyoming in 2008. With a multitude of degrees, Patti has an extensive background working in maternal child health as a staff nurse, faculty member, lactation consultant and behavioral health nurse. She is certified as a nurse midwife and an adult mental health nurse practitioner. As of February 2011, Patti has been employed by St. Monica's, an organization in Lincoln specializing in substance abuse and mental health treatment for women. Patti enjoys being a member of the MilkWorks Board of Directors because she is passionate about issues facing pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.

Kylie and Bethany had fun hosting the MilkWorks/babyworks booth at the Lincoln Earth Day Celebration! They monitored the Great Diaper Change, demonstrated reusuable diapers, shared information on baby slings and displayed some of the earth-friendly toys sold at babyworks. Congratulations to Becky Jans, who visited our booth and won the drawing for a $25 gift certificate! Thirty-eight local parents and babies participated in the 2011 Great Cloth Diaper Change. This was one of more than 400 locations world-wide where parents gathered to set a Guinness World Record for most babies changed into reusable diapers simultaneously, showing that reusable/cloth diapering is a viable, earth-friendly alternative to disposable diapers. Thanks to all the parents and kids who came out to take part, and to Circle Me for sponsoring the diaper change. |

the staff of MilkWorks in 2002, Teresa was an obstetric and pediatric nurse. For years, Teresa managed our pump rental program, a very formidable and demanding job.
After attending a 5 day lactation conference sponsored by Healthy Children's Center for Breastfeeding, Teresa is now taking on a new position at MilkWorks working as Dr. Leeper's nurse. This will allow Dr. Leeper to provide even more personalized attention to moms and babies. Welcome to your new position, Teresa!
