A Bit of Magic . . .
 | | The signature cocktail at the Milk & Cookies Cocktail Party and Dessert Tasting Fundraiser on June 4 was prepared by the Hours Lounge and featured Godiva Chocolate liquor. |
I always feel as though summer is truly here when the fireflies appear. As a young child growing up in a small town in South Dakota, I spent many summer evenings enchanted by the sparkling lights darting in the grass, wondering how they worked their magic.
June 4th brought a bit of magic right here to MilkWorks as board members and volunteers held our first official fundraiser at the home of Dr. Tim and Patti Gardner. It was enchanting to see such great community support for MilkWorks. Read the rest of Ann's letter by clicking here. |
What's BUTTer at babyworks?
| |

CJ's BUTTer - great with cloth diapers and more
Cloth diaper users have been asking for CJ's BUTTer, because it does not leave a residue. There is also so much more to love! Made with shea butter, olive oil, coconut oil, lanolin, beeswax, cocoa butter, vitamin E and colloidal oatmeal, this ointment absorbs rapidly into the skin. It works great on diaper rash, and also for many family uses - extra dry skin, eczema, bug bites, cuticle cream, protection against windburn and more. CJ's BUTTer comes unscented, or in some really fun scents, such as Blueberry Crumble, Love Spell and Monkey Farts (oh my)! Others are infused with essential oils, such as lavender, tea tree and orange oil. At babyworks, you can find sample sizes (great for throwing in the purse or trying all the scents), 4-ounce jars and tubes (perfect for the diaper bag), and the 12-ounce tub (perfect for the changing table). No petroleum or zinc oxide - unlike most diaper creams. |
MilkWorks is all about the health of babies. We encourage parents to choose skin care products carefully. Children's skin is 30% thinner than adults and can absorb greater amounts of chemicals. Bab ies younger than 6 months of age are particularly susceptible. The Environmental Working Group, co-founder of safecosmetics.org has found that children are exposed to an average of 61 different chemical ingredients every day from skin care products, many of which have not been found safe for children by the government or the cosmetic industry's expert safety panel. | What's New with Breastfeeding? |
According to a recent report from the National Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine, today's infants are at great risk for being overweight children and obese adults. Parents, doctors and other caregivers need to help by limiting TV, making sure infants and toddlers get enough exercise and sleep, and providing healthy foods. Of course, breastfeeding is considered the very first step in reducing the risk of becoming overweight. Read more. |
