Our Philosophy
| I would like to talk for a moment about the Fishlips3 philosophy of doing business.
While we started as an Internet based business 10 years ago, we have since evolved into a brick and mortar shop who also does trade and art shows.
The major difference between the two is when you are shopping on the Internet you can do it in your PJ's or underwear if you like from the comfort of your own home. So far in the store we have seen just a few PJ's and thank heavens we have yet to see just underwear.
It is OK for you Internet shoppers to keep doing the PJ's and underwear thing...just don't send pictures!
But what we have seen is a lot of very nice, creative people who like to see, touch and feel the goodies before they purchase them. We encourage everyone to spend as much time in the shop as you like finding what you need. Bring in items that you need to match up with other to complete your designs. Use our table in the shop if you like.
We want to invite all of the web buyers to come and visit if you are in the area or driving though. Feel free to make a special trip to the shop. You will not be disappointed!!
All of us believe that you are a friend in our home and we strive to treat you like one. (YES, I do harass my friends when they come over to the house...both of them!)
We all know that you can get your supplies at other bead and craft shops and online. That is why we are committed to the best customer service out there. Sure we all have our days and moments when we mess up. But day in and day out Hobo tells me that we care about you, our customers. We know without you I would have to sit at home and just have the Internet business and do shows. (Hummm...in my PJ's? Is that a bad thing) YES IT IS!
We believe that quality merchandise at a fair price along with great customer service, going the extra mile for you is the key to success. But we are also open to listening to you our customers, who tell us what they need, want and what new classes they would like to take.
While we have sales from time to time we never do a huge amount of extra business during them. We jewelry designers are a rare breed of people who buy when they want to...what they like...when they are in the mood...the creative mood.
You also know that we offer a quality product (not commercial grade) at a fair price all year round. That makes 25% off in our store a great value and 50% off a HUGE Savings.
We all would like to thank you, our customers for staying loyal to us. Coming in a joking around with us. Giving us and emailing your suggestions and sharing your knowledge with us on a regular basis and of course keeping the PJ's and underwear at home!

 Tucson in Des Moines Trunk Show
July 31st & August 1st
If you have not been to one of our trunk shows let me see if I can describe it. Picture 50 plus totes (large boxes) filled with strands and strands and strands of beads all over the back of the store.
There is everything under the sun! From strands of diamonds to howlite peace signs. Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire, Labradorite, Quartz, Jasper, Agate, Pearls, Pearls, Pearls, plus the regular gemstones, and all of the unique stones that you just do not see in Iowa very often.
My friend and supplier, Paul brings then to Des Moines a couple times a year on his way to sell to all the different bead stores around the country. This is the only trunk show that he does.
So mark the dates and make sure you see the unbelievable selection of beads and an awesome price just for the trunk show in Des Moines!

Help Fishy Give Back to DSM Kids!
 CROSS Ministries is planning for the
18th Annual Back to School Giveaway to be held on August 5 & 6 at
Cottage Grove Presbyterian Church. Last year we were able to assist
1,200 children from low and no-income families with the supplies they
needed to begin school.
As you can see by the photo, the line stretches
from the main entrance in the parking lot, around the sides of the
building, and then beyond the corner of 24th and Cottage Grove. With
the challenges of the current economy, I know that the demand will be
just as high this year. Children of low and no income households
are most affected by the poverty their families experience. The best
way to get them out of the poverty cycle is through education.
If a
child has to start school without the basic supplies needed, or has to
start school late while waiting for the money to purchase the supplies,
it puts them at a major disadvantage. Therefore, the Back to School
Giveaway is an investment in the future for us all.For every $15.00 that you donate one child living in poverty, in our community, can receive a backpack filled with the grade appropriate school supplies needed to begin the 2010-2011 school year.
CROSS is able to purchase supplies in bulk at large discounts!
