UWTC Announces Implementation of Program-Based Model and 2011-12 Community Care Fund Investments
| Concluding a five-year realignment process, UWTC volunteers and staff successfully implemented a program-based community investment model that targets seven Issue Areas for improvement. Sarah Manasse, HSBC Bank, and UWTC Fund Distribution and Evaluation Committee Chair, presented the UWTC Board with the first Community Care Fund investment recommendations using the new model.
In bringing forward the funding slate of $932,600, Sarah shared an overview of the process that has moved many activities, including all UWTC program and community investment activities to an online platform. In doing so, agencies and UWTC volunteers have the opportunity to present, analyze, plan and evaluate programs in a more organized, detailed and inclusive manner than ever before.
Before approving the investment recommendations, the UWTC Board recognized the work and guidance provided by agencies, community members, UWTC volunteers and staff. As part of the process, six agencies, Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes, Catholic Charities of Tompkins & Tioga Counties, FISH Essential Transportation, Foodnet Meals-on Wheels, Ithaca Community Childcare Center, and Tompkins Community Action, had access to Community Care Fund investments for the first time.
These community investments support programs that have proven results, measurable outcomes, and demonstrated impact on both the people being served and the core unmet needs in Tompkins County. James Brown, president of UWTC stated, "This process has again proven that we have many outstanding agencies providing local residents with exceptional services and care. Regrettably, there are demands that exceed existing resources."
