Community Impact: Childcare
|
Funds received from United Way of Tompkins County provide the additional support that is needed for 10 toddlers from families receiving Department of Social Services assistance to be able to attend The Drop-In Children's Center.
"This assistance has made it possible for us to make ends meet and without this funding, we would never be able to pay the high daycare cost for our child. This is the only way our daughter would be able to attend daycare, and be a part of such a healthy loving social family." - Drop-In Children's Center Parent

UWTC Receives Verizon Foundation Award for Equipment Lending Lab
|
United Way of Tompkins County (UWTC) has been awarded a $7,500 Verizon Foundation grant which will be used to support, expand, and enhance the existing Verizon Mobile Education Outreach Lab and Training Program. The recent grant is in addition to grants totaling $19,000 over the past 3 years that Verizon has made to UWTC.
The equipment lending lab, one of the few in Tompkins County for nonprofit organizations, provides technology and training services to nonprofits in the community.

"Foodnet has been helped by gaining access to high quality equipment for outreach and education. We've used the LCD projector for training and volunteer orientation, and we can borrow a laptop or digital camera anytime we need it. By sharing equipment among many non-profit agencies, we all save money and can focus our resources on providing community services."
- Steve Griffin
Executive Director of Foodnet Meals on Wheels
