One Million Pillowcase Challenge
Merrie Wilent, Co-owner Quilters Corner | Quilters Corner at 518 West State Street, Ithaca, is joining the challenge of making 1,000,000 pillowcases nationwide. United Way of Tompkins County is helping to distribute the locally-made pillowcases, which will be used at local shelters, for children hospitalized, and given to consumers at local food pantries. |
Debbie Pierce, staff Red Cross | Quilters Corner's goal is to make 500 pillowcases. To date 200 have been distributed to Catholic Charities of Tompkins and Tioga Counties and the American Red Cross, Tompkins County Chapter. For more information contact Quilters Corner at (607) 266-0850. |
 | | | | | Thank you to our local National Association of Letter Carriers' Merged Branch 333 for participating in the largest, annual, one-day food drive across the USA on May 8th. Tompkins County residents donated more than five tons of food and personal care items which were given to local food pantries and organizations for distribution. During these challenging economic times, our food pantries are seeing more and more consumers asking for some extra help. Thank you to our letter carriers, the community-at-large, Joan Barber, and other volunteers for helping individuals and families build stronger lives. | | | |
