Use Your Website to Make the Right Impression

DOWNLOAD WHITEPAPER

People are visiting your website 24/7.

Customers, prospects and business associates are visiting your website every day. They come to your website and make an immediate assessment of your business. Based on that evaluation they may decide to interact with your business in some way - a phone call, an email, signing up for your enewsletter or making an online purchase. On the other hand, they may simply move on because your website is out of date, poorly designed or lacking the information they are looking for.

Introduce yourself as a professional.

In today's competitive online marketplace, your website may need an upgrade. The pressure to have a web presence can lead a business to quickly create a website, oftentimes with a limited investment of time and expertise. Website standards are sophisticated and the website you created five years ago may be doing more harm than good. Studies show that a majority of people conduct product and information research on the internet before contacting a business. So your website needs to be the finest presentation of your company. It needs to embody the personal touch you would provide in a face-to-face meeting and be as impressive as walking into your office.

Make the commitment to provide value.

Today's prospective client is in full control of the sales process, both online and offline. This puts your website in competition with all the other websites in your industry, and all the millions of websites available on the World Wide Web. By talking to your clients, utilizing research data and working with industry professionals, you can understand how your target audience wants to interact with your firm via your website. Once you have that information, you can create a website that is interesting, meaningful and compelling to your audience.

Make your website work for you.

You can ensure greater online success by using the latest technologies to your advantage. A growing number of your prospects use their mobile devices for access to data, so be sure your website is viewable on these devices. Your website should be built using the latest technical standards so it is easily searchable and ranks well on the major search engines. Take the time to review your website weekly to be sure the information is up to date, and every six months review the technical "backend" features of your website. The internet is a rapidly changing environment and standards are evolving. Having a comprehensive website requires a commitment of time and resources - make it a powerful component of your business success.

DOL Postpones Effective Date for Service Provider Fee Disclosure Requirements...Again

Surprise...the DOL has done it again. The Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration has postponed, once again, the effective date for 408(b)(2) to April 1, 2012. The initial date was July 2011, which was delayed until January 1, 2012.

According to the DOL, after review of the comments from service providers, plan fiduciaries and plan administrators, they decided that further guidance was necessary. According to Charlie Epstein, "Both plan sponsors and providers need more time to be compliant."

The deadline for issuing the initial participant disclosure is 60 days after the 408(b)(2) effective date on May 31, 2012. The DOL says it will publish the final regulations before the end of the year.

We caught up with Mike Ziccardi, the National Sales Director for Mutual of Omaha Retirement Plans Division, at The 401k Coach Boot Camp in Huntington Beach, California. Mike has attended 12 of the 18 Boot Camps that Mutual of
Omaha has sponsored during the past year.

"Plan sponsors want their advisors to be responsive while providing value," says Mike about the reason why Mutual of Omaha partnered with The 401k Coach. "Our partnership gives advisors the tools they need to build a
rock-solid value proposition to generate new business, and it shows advisors that Mutual of Omaha is committed to their success."

When asked about the Boot Camp's most important lesson, Mike responds: "Charlie reinforces to advisors the importance of a repeatable system for conducting exceptional first meetings and closing sales, increased
confidence and technical expertise and the ability to escape from the "Commoditization Trap."

Mike, who has been in the industry since 1997, currently oversees more than 30 Mutual of Omaha 401(k) wholesalers. His team helps retirement plan advisors stay ahead of the competition by being more efficient and adding
greater value to their clients with best-in-class sales tools, sales support and differentiated retirement plans.

The article includes step-by-step instructions on how to ace that first meeting. The Three-Point Shooter Strategy includes researching the plan and company, researching the meeting and demonstrating your expertise.

In another article, Database Creation: The First Step in Marketing,Charlie explains how creating an up-to-date database will improve the value of your assets.
