Visual Storytelling & Information Graphics: Using Flash to Create Rich Data Visualizations

A multimedia storytelling workshop that will include both hands-on software instruction as well as discussion about how to teach interactive graphics and multimedia storytelling in the higher education classroom. $75 (limited to 20 participants)

How to write a syllabus that sets a positive tone for the semester; how to teach an Introduction to Advertising class for the masses; and the ever-popular Open Forum where we spend some time sharing concerns and ideas as a group. $35 (limited to 40 participants)

Participants will consider the ethics of being among the last employees on the job, profit loyalty, cyber-marketing, and new applications of utility. A diverse group of experts on international communication will present techniques and useful tips for teaching border and international issues within the US, like bi-cultural markets, global public relations, Spanish language television and coverage of drug traffic and the US/Mexico border. $30

Learn successful convergent teaching methods from proven educators in advertising, public relations, print-based news, photojournalism and broadcast classes. Practitioners and academics working in the environmental communications discipline will address the complexity of climate change with theory and practitioner panels. $10

Journalism Schools as News Providers: Challenges and Opportunities

This four-hour event will include case studies and experts in Pro-Am journalism, journalism education and media law from journalism schools and departments nationwide. It also includes a networking reception. $39 (limited to 100 participants)
