ADA Fall Newsletter
NAIA Contact: Ruth Stein
www.NAIA.org
Greetings! Each fall the NAIA distributes the annual ADA Newsletter with general information about ADA committees, awards, deadlines meeting minutes, convention information and other updates.  You are encouraged to browse through these highlights and "click through" the links for more detailed updates.
2008-09 NAIA-Athletics Directors Association Officers and Standing Committees
Each ADA officer typically serves one-year terms in each position. Due to several vacated positions, the ADA voted to allow the 2008-09 officers to serve in their respective positions for two years instead of one, to create some continuity.  Therefore current officer terms will run through the completion of the 2010 NACDA Convention.

NAIA-ADA Recognition
The 2007-08 Regional and National Athletics Directors of the Year will be recognized during the 2009 NAIA National Convention. Region honors will be presented at the ADA Business Meeting and the National AD of the Year Award will be presented at the Awards Banquet. Admission to the banquet is free to all NAIA Convention attendees.  All honorees are strongly encouraged to attend these events to receive their honors.

Moving forward, AD of the Year recognition will advance from conference/independent honors directly to national recognition (no region honors).  Commissioners will receive materials directly from the national office in May.  Forms and nomination materials must be returned directly to the national office by July 1.
Annual NAIA National Convention
The 68th Annual NAIA National Convention is scheduled for April 17-21, 2009 at the Kansas City Marriott Hotel-Downtown. Complete registration materials and convention information will be mailed to all member institutions in November and will be available on the NAIA convention website

Proposed Amendments - NAIA Constitution and Bylaws
The proposed amendments to the NAIA Constitution and Bylaws will be mailed to all Presidents by early March.  The voting delegates will act upon these proposed amendments at the NAIA Annual Meeting during the National Convention in April. For a copy of the proposed amendments, visit the NAIA convention web pages in early March.

That notification will fulfill the official notice requirement by the NAIA Constitution that member institutions receive proposed amendments a minimum of 30 days in advance of the convention.  Complete annual meeting procedures and other convention details will be outlined on the NAIA website.
Registration of Voting Delegates - 2009 Annual Meeting
The 2009 NAIA Annual Meeting is tentatively set for Tuesday, April 21 at the Kansas City Marriott-Downtown.  Each active member institution is accorded one voting delegate to the annual meeting, to be appointed by the chief executive officer of the institution.  Voting delegates must register prior to this meeting.

A letter of notification and instruction will be mailed to all chief executive officers of member schools.  Enclosed with that letter will be a form to indicate the voting delegate representing his/her institution on the floor of the annual meeting.  Please check with your institutional chief executive officer regarding this matter.
ADA Workshops
The NAIA-ADA Workshop Committee is developing several sessions for the NAIA and NACDA conventions. Sessions are designed to provide interesting, diverse and educational information for all convention attendees.  Additional information will be posted on the NAIA website as speakers and schedules are confirmed.
