First of all, what is Pi and why are we celebrating it?
Pi or π is one of the most important mathematical constants, approximately equal to 3.14159265358979...
It represents the ratio of any circle's circumference to its diameter. As some of you may already know, Lisa received her B.S. in Applied Mathematics and is currently a high school math teacher. As in any community, especially the math & wine community, we look for any excuse to have a celebration. We choose March 14th (3/14) to celebrate the beauty of this great mathematical constant.
The celebration officially starts at 3:14pm.
A contest will be held to see who's memorized the most digits of pi.
Here are the first 1000 digits to get you started:

Of course we will be enjoying pi-not grigio, pi-not noir, pi-nts of beer, and a special pi-nata made just for the event! Also, be sure to listen out for a special mathematically themed music playlist.
Please forward this e-mail to all those who may appreciate Pi Day: mathematicians, scientists, or anybody who has ever had to calculate the area or circumference of a circle.
See you on 3/14 @ 3:14pm
Be there or be square!

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made our March 2nd, One Year Birthday Party an extreme success!
