FIRE FIGHTER PERISHES Bishop Sam Wilson from Detroit, Michigan requests prayer. Walter Harris, a Community Christian Fellowship church leader, died in a house fire on Saturday morning, November 15. Walter, a Detroit fire fighter, was responding to a house fire with his crew when the roof of the dwelling collapsed & Walter was trapped. Three other fire fighters were also injured in the fire but Walter was the only one that perished. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. Walter, aged 37, leaves a spouse and children behind. Bishop Wilson asked that the MAX Support Network remember the Harris family & the church family in prayer as they process and grieve this loss of such a young man and leader. Community Christian Fellowship has been a part of MAX and its predecessor program for many years. HIGHWAY TRAGEDY Five adults and two small children from three communities in Alberta were killed in a terrible accident in Colorado on November 27. The group, members of the Old Colony and Reinland Mennonite Churches in Alberta, was returning from visiting family in Mexico when their vehicle plunged off an overpass, hit a concrete embankment and burst into flames. The deceased include Jacob and Susana Rempel and their sixteen year old son Jacob Jr. of Vauxhall; Susana Rempel and her two sons, three year old Johan and 21 month old Heinrich from Willingdon, and Joseph Dick from Taber. Let's keep these families and their communities in our prayers as they grieve the loss of so many from their midst. UPDATE - HEIDI GASCHO In the August 5 Support Network email, we requested prayer for Heidi Gascho, a 23 year old woman from Stratford, Ontario struggling with a life threatening malignant brain tumour. In a recent conversation with her father Paul, he reported that Heidi has finished a second round of 21 days of treatment. She will be starting her third round at the beginning of December and receiving an MRI on December 23. Of particular concern right now is the increase in pain and severe headaches she is experiencing. Doctors are attempting to find medication to relieve her pain without serious side effects. Please continue to keep Heidi and her parents, Paul and Sharon, in your prayers. |
